Like a beautiful sad dream
26 July 2013
The movie is beautiful like a dream, yet has some of saddest emotions I've ever experienced from a movie. I usually don't cry in movies but this one had tears raining down my eyes. It has taught me to appreciate my life, my friends, and my family more.

Even though it is animation, you walk away feeling like these characters were more real than most other live action characters you've watched. It is a powerful yet simple art anyone can understand. It doesn't try to blame the US or Japan, but instead we see the world through the eyes of these two innocent children.

There is a lot of little details in this movie, details that we all have experienced but is often overlooked in other movies. This is what makes this movie so realistic. At times it feels almost voyeuristic.

Timeless

I saw this when I was a child then again 27 years after it was made and it is still just as good and fresh.

The movie takes place in a fantasy martial arts world where you follow the two main characters through their many epic adventures. It draws you the more you watch and you feel as if you live with the characters through their journeys.

There's a superb cast with characters you grow to love and admire. It is heavy on character development done through showing the viewer instead of telling.

This is a great series that will be loved for many more years to come.
