Sherlock Holmes (2009)

Maybe not for Sherlock Holmes and crime stories fans?

I went to the movies watching Sherlock Holmes with the expectation to see a good movie, and the movie lived up to my expectations and more.

I've never read any of the books, nor seen any of the older Sherlock Holmes movies, however I do have a little bit of knowledge on Sherlock Holmes anyway. I must admit that the movie, was more of an action move than I expected, as I've always thought that Sherlock Holmes would be more within the genre of Crime / Thriller and less of an action movie. So I'm not quite sure how well the movie captures the real universe of Sherlock Holmes, so it might not be the best movie to watch if you really like the books and crime stories.

With that say I actually think they've done a quite good job creating Sherlock Holmes and Watson, even though the movie is a bit more about action that I expected. The actors do a great job too.

The story is good, although as mentioned a lot of time is spend on action. This means that the story is not that complete and I felt that some information were left out or simply not written, which is a shame. I also feel that it is hard to think a head in the movie, at least when I watched it I didn't think ahead to try to solve the mystery at all.

Overall this is a good movie, however it's more of an action movie than I would expect and I think if your mind is really focused on watching a crime movie where you should try solving a mystery you might be disappointed. I didn't go into the movie with that in my mind, and I enjoyed this movie a lot.

24: Redemption (2008 TV Movie)

OK, but not good enough.

A full length episode of 24, but does it work? Well, I can't help it, but this seems to be kind of rushed. The script and story aren't as good as it should be. I felt kind of bored watching this.

Jack seems to be a bit "overpowered" and he seems to have a gift to dodge bullets. Okay I know this happens in a lot, but they kind of over do it here.

I like the way that it is real time. Unlike in the series, it seems like it is possible to do all the things they do in the given time period. It doesn't feel the 24ish though, one of the most vital part of 24 CTU is not involved in the movie at all.

With that said, it is not that bad. It seems like quite a nice start of the 7th season, and it is nice to get into more details about what has happened between the two seasons. They didn't max out the potential of the movie, the script and story was in my opinion a bit dull.

But if you like the series and plan to follow the 7th season, be sure to check this one out.

Quantum of Solace (2008)

just another plain and boring action movie

After Casino Royal, which was a quite nice movie in my opinion, I didn't expect much of this movie. However, I still managed to get disappointed. I wanted to see a bond movie, but what I got was a plain boring action movie.

The movie starts with a car chase and already at that point I had a bad feeling. The editing was "agressive" and you saw the thing from many random angels changing all the time.

Mr. Bond's charm is all gone, the character is so lifeless unlike many other bond movies. He doesn't have any cool gadgets like a watch that can control a car or anything, so that aspect of the movie is gone too. It almost seems like the director wanted the film to be too realistic. Also the plot is something that concerns us now a day, which might not be the best idea ever.

And now to the villain. Man he is boring! He is not special in any way, there is nothing to remember about him. He doesn't have a golden gun or sharp iron teeth. I don't even remember a single quote from him.

The always present sex scene is gone. You do see that he is about to do it with Mrs. Fields (which is completely useless for the plot), but the scene is not there. They even cut mr. Bonds most famous quote out "my name is Bond, James Bond" whats up with that!?

So if you want to see a James Bond movie. Don't see this one, because this is just a plain and boring action movie seen 100 times before.

Kung Fu Panda (2008)

Predictable..

Well, I was expecting this to be a good movie, and I wasn't disappointed. It was great fun, and the comedy was not as childish as you might have though. The plot was good, but I think it was a bit to predictable, I think that might be that way so children find the movie good as well.

Voice acting was excellent, very very good. It is the best voice acting I've seen for a while. Animation was beautiful as expected. The battle scenes were quite OK, but nothing special indeed.

It is indeed a good movie, and it is very funny! But still I miss something that really makes this movie stand out. There was no "WOW!" moment in this movie and no surprises in the plot at all.

The Exorcist (1973)

A movie you'll remember!

So, It's been quite a while since this movie was released, and I was kinda skeptic about this movie, didn't really believe that it was that good. But boy, I was surprised!

This is just one of those movies you'll remember, and think about for days. The story is great, and I thought it was kinda hard to figure out. It took me a few days and a second watch to figure out some of the details in the story, which is great because I like to that you'll have to use the brain as well when watching movies. The acting is great, and if you compare to newer movies, there is no special effects what so ever, but you don't miss them.

Awesome movie, if you haven't watched this one yet, go do it, now! You wont regret it!
