Terrible Sound Effects
24 February 2019
This could have been a good movie if not for the terrible sound effects. Whoever the sound editor was should find another career. The problem is the sound never stops. Even when people are talking in a closed room these idiots keep loud sound effects going. The sounds were so loud they drowned out much of the actors speaking. The background sounds just kept going and going making many scenes unbearable. My wife got so annoyed at the sound she walked out.

The Revenant (I) (2015)

Soundtrack Ruins the Movie
14 January 2016
I don't write movie reviews very often so believe me, it has to be something that really stands out to make me write at all.

This could have been a great movie. It has great visual effects, great acting, good story line, and more. However, the sounds were horrible. This has to be the worst music I have ever heard in a movie. There were times in the movie where the sounds were so annoying that I had to cover my ears to be able to watch the movie. At one point the screeching sounds where so ear piercing that I was just about to walk out of the theater had it not changed. Other times I could barely understand the actors talking because background sound was stepping over their voices.

The worst part about the background sounds and music was that it just continued on and on throughout the movie. It just never seemed to stop! What was supposed to be the natural sounds of the forest was also extremely loud and out of balance. I don't know why the normal sounds of nature were amplified so much but the ones in this movie were certainly not natural.

I don't see how anyone could give this a high rating. Maybe they watched with their ears plugged. How it got so many nominations is beyond me. Just goes to show that politics also has a hand in the Oscars.

Portlandia (2011–2018)

Dumbest show I've ever seen.
23 January 2015
Just from the commercials alone I really didn't want to watch this. However, I decided to give it at least a good try. I ATTEMPTED to watch several different episodes but could not stomach the stupidity and lack of acting talent. This is probably the most awful show to ever grace the TV screen. Not only does it have very bad acting the whole idea of the show is just comedy gone wrong. I'd really rather watch old Charlie Chaplin silent movies, at least I'd get some laughs.

I did my best to find something funny in Portandia but everything I watched seemed more like someone took all the cut scenes from the floor and pasted them into a nightmare. The show just goes way beyond ridiculous.

If IFC has some wise people running their network then they'd drop Portlandia like a hot rock.

Captions?
29 February 2004
I have to agree with most, that this movie was very well produced. The look and feel that Mel Gibson gave to this movie was very moving and well told. I think it is a good movie but it could have been better if were not for the captions. I understand the attempt to make it as authentic as possible and the feeling it extends by having the actors use the language of the times. However, by having captions throughout the entire movie made me feel like I was watching a foreign film. This, in my opinion, degraded the quality of the film by forcing the audience to continually look at the bottom of the screen. I am one that likes to view scenes closely and if you are the same then this film will leave you feeling like you may have missed something, especially at times when the dialog was long. I know that the "passion" in this movie would have come across a whole lot more and made a greater impact if english was spoken by all, especially the role of Jesus. When he spoke the most popular words that all Christians recognize it would have had a much deeper impact on us all if we heard it in our on tongue. Hearing him speak it in a language that 99% of us do not understand and then having to read it to know what he said just took away from any feeling the character was attempting to convey.

At first I was hoping that Mel would do like other films and start off with dialogs, switching to english very quickly. If I had known the entire film was captioned I would have waited for the DVD.

Radio (2003)

Loved It! A Must See!
12 October 2003
I just wanted to let everyone know that this is a GREAT movie. Do not pay attention to those that have only seen the trailer and think they know the entire story. Last night (10/11/03) I took my family and we went to the `sneak preview' outside of Atlanta. I have seen many movies in my life but only a very few that had standing and clapping at the end of the movie. Radio had both! People in the audience were clapping near the end at a couple touching scenes and then the entire audience stood and clapped at the very end. It was absolutely amazing. Something you rarely see happen at most movies these days. Oh, I know those out there that are not into heart warming and touching movies will not like it and probably have some things in the movie they'll attempt to pick on. If you are into those special effects, computer generated, explosive scenes and non-stop action then Radio is not for you. Radio is a story that is told brilliantly! It is a story to be absorbed and enjoyed with both the heart and mind. It is one that will stick with you for a long time after leaving the theater unlike the action-packed thrillers and ordinary comedies that seem to dominate the movies these days. It is truly about time that someone made a movie of this caliber. Some will attempt to compare it to other films but in reality it stands alone by itself in all areas. It is a must see!

The only `bad' thing I can say about the movie is that I believe it should have been longer, if you call that `bad.' They should have taken more time and revealed to the viewer more about the character Radio and his relationship with others by having more scenes with him interacting with people. Of course they had a few scenes like that but the true understanding of how the majority was feeling about Radio was conveyed to the audience in talk by the Coach and others instead of more action. More scenes would have made the movie longer but I believe it would have helped in making the audience actually understand the feelings of students and others toward Radio through site and actions instead of talk. The only `bad' thing is that I wanted more!

I have met the real life Radio and Coach Jones. Some critics will find it hard to believe that there is actually a real life person like the Radio that is portrayed by Cuba Gooding, Jr. I am here to tell you that there IS one and he is as sweet and magical as the character in the movie. To the credit of the real life Coach Jones everybody likes Radio and looks for him at every game. The movie may not be exactly true to the life of each character but remember it is `based on a true story.'

You will NOT be wasting your time or money by going to see this feature. If you have feelings and are willing to take an hour and 40 minutes to watch and absorb, you will be glad you saw this movie. Caution to those that are truly tender hearted.take some tissues.
