Dom kallar oss mods (1968)
Touching and real
This first film in the "Dom kallar oss mods"-trilogy (They call us misfits") is truly great and less depressing than the two following films, which are also great but much more serious and sad. This is because Kenta (Kennet Gustavsson) and Stoffe (Gustav Svensson) are still young and naive, only 18 years old, and have not yet become alcoholics and drug addicts. Stefan Jarl has made a true documentary classic, capturing the zeitgeist of the 60's in Sweden while following these two exceptionally well spoken social misfits and their friends in their lives. You cannot help but liking Kenta and Stoffe, outspoken and friendly, they never really had a chance... Dom kallar oss mods is a unique, warm, generous and open-hearted movie. Don't miss it for the world. Lots of fun too.
À la folie... pas du tout (2002)
Thrilling feelings harvest victims
Audrey Tautou plays Angelique, a sweet young girl in her twenties, madly in love with an already married doctor. Angelique is convinced that the love is mutual and patiently waits for the doctor to leave his wife to join up with her. In the meantime she sends him all sorts of romantic gifts, flowers, paintings, letters etc. But it takes longer time than she had planned for him to decide whether or not he should leave his wife ... Then the movie is rewinded and we are allowed to see how the doctor experience the same events, which differs quite alot from Angeliques view. I consider this to be a really good movie, well played, nice story, and enchanting. Audrey Tautou proves that Amelie from Montmartre was not a one time wonder, she really is a great actress, and nice to watch too, hehe.
