The Spies That Came from the Sea (2008)
German landings in Canada
By the fall of 1942, German U-boats had struck deep into the mighty St. Lawrence River, sinking 21 ships and killing more than 250 people. Germany had reached its goal. It had effectively shut down the St. Lawrence River to all Canadian convoys destined for Great Britain. The people living along the St. Lawrence began fearing the worst - a German landing.
This is the untold story of spies who landed on Canadian shores and of a mysterious submarine landing that remained secret for more than 35 years.
Including exclusive interviews with the only surviving Germans who landed during World War II, and the chambermaid who unmasked a German spy in a small village on the Gaspé peninsula.
Choir of Hard Knocks (2007)
Lifting more than voices.
WOW ! I'm impressed. Jonathon Welch, with unstoppable enthusiasm, has helped a group of 'hard knocks' people come together, as a family of singers, and become a choir.
The music is great. The singers are wonderful. As a Canadian, who feels the loss of Leonard Cohen this Nov. 2016, my spirits were raised when this choir sang out his "Hallelujah' !
The background stories told about the singers brings each to your attention as a person, each trying to do the best they can.
The guidance of Jonathon Welch reveals individual victories combining in a wonderful documentary and choir.
You will be pleased. You will have fun!
