Another poster here said that he'd rather watch Tim Burton's version, but that just goes to show that most movie-goers aren't interested in a true adaptation of a classic novel. This version, unlike Burton's version, is very true to the story. Meaning, instead of a strange plot involving witches, it revolves around Ichabod Crane and his awkward, generally unlikeable persona. It was pretty funny at certain times. Brent Carver stole the movie acting wise, while the guy who played Brom was pretty dull and lifeless throughout. The only real problem I had with the movie was the general lack of a empathetic character. Crane is, like I've said, awkward, but he's also pompous and his motivations are never clear. Brom is your typical no-brains jock stereotype. Katrina is even more confusing. Mostly watch this movie for the comedic value, because there's no real horror here. If you're into the butchering of a literary classic, though, please, by all means, rent Tim Burton's version.

Whether you're looking for Science, Fiction, or Science Fiction, you're in for a treat as Fry, Leela, Bender, the Professor, Amy, Hermes, and to a much lesser extent Dr. Zoidberg travel through time and space to deliver/battle/mate with creatures/aliens/humanoid alien creatures from the past/future.
Let's just say that if I had the choice between living and watching Futurama repeatedly for an eternity in purgatory, you would never see me again.

If Ross McElwee was aiming for a movie about a very sad, very pathetic man, then he hit the target. Unfortunately for him he made a mockery of himself instead of actually getting to a point with this uninspired, unintentionally funny documentary.
Let's start at the beginning. Mr. McElwee sets out to make a documentary on a man named Sherman, a famous General who destroyed a lot of things in the South during the civil war. Well, we get to learn a small amount about General Sherman throughout the film, facts that have no real context in the rest of the movie.
Now, let's get to the real point of the movie. Ross takes his camera on a mission to find out why his 'ex-flames' never really liked him. Well, I can tell you why they didn't like him just from watching this video: HE'S INSANE. The women he dated were insane. There was no sense of reality in any of the conversations he had with any of the females; the only one that seemed slightly sane he made CRY.
I think my favorite part in this movie is when he, Ross, takes the camera to a woman he sort of saw in High school. This happens to be the only sane person in the movie, mainly because she didn't continue seeing him afterwards. He takes her to a park and proceeds to badger her to get the reasons why she didn't 'love' him. He goes as far as to say, "WHY DON'T YOU LOVE ME?" to her. After she's literally about to break down, she tells him to cut the camera off. Does he? No. He proceeds to be a jerk.
I was told that this movie was good. It was not. I was told that this move was funny. Only because it was very sad.

I saw this movie the other night with my unsuspecting girlfriend. She is the type who dislikes violence very much. Well, within the first twenty minutes she was visibly upset and shaken. I asked her if she wanted to leave, but she could tell by the sparkle in my eyes and the skip in my walk (which is amazing, since I was obviously sitting) that I was thoroughly enjoying the movie.
I enjoyed every moment of this movie. It's the first movie in a long time that made me feel uneasy, which last happened during Event Horizon (although I didn't like that one too much). Not to say that's a bad thing, though. If a movie can evoke some sort of feeling of distress or fright in me, then it's doing a great job.
The acting was decent. I didn't expect an Oscar winning performance from Kutcher, but he did a nice job. The supporting cast was on par as well. After seeing this, I'd consider seeing Ashton's other movies.
As far as the story, it couldn't have been better. I enjoyed every little twist that happened, and the cut scenes made me jump a little in my seat.
By the end I was incredibly happy by what had just happened. I sat through the credits and just stared in awe while Oasis played. Couldn't have asked for anything better.
Hell, even my girlfriend liked it (although she was rather disturbed).
My rating - 9.5/10.
I too will be purchasing this on DVD when it comes out.
So, yes, go see this movie. Do not listen to the critics, who are obviously blind in their ratings because it's Ashton Kutcher. They're too 'high and mighty' to give it an honest rating. They fear by giving it a good rating, they'd lose some sort of credibility, which in my mind, they never had in the first place.
Definitely a must-see movie.

Well, I was in a film class taught by Jay Lowi. He decided he'd show us the 'crap film of the week', and popped this movie in. Well, as I was watching I began to think to myself "This isn't crappy.. I happen to enjoy this." Then the credits came up, and lo and behold, Jay Lowi was the director. I thoroughly enjoyed this short film. The acting was great, the camera work was nicely done, the story was well written, although I could have used a bit more detail. Also, there's a gun that fires 7 times instead of 6, and it's a 6 shooter... geez, fix the problems... I kid. Great movie.
