Star Trek (2009)
OK um WOW, so Star Wars wins?
28 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Shameful.

I always have loved the feisty yet playful argument of which is better, Star Trek or Star Wars, but now I see that Star Trek has called, "Uncle" and this movie says, "Star Wars is better".

******Spoilers*********

The beginning totally copies from when Patome goes through child birth while Annakin dies and is reborn into Darth Vader. It does in the sense that there is chaos going on around them, and death is lurking while life is coming. It struck me that way immediately when I saw this scene.

Then, there is the fact that James T. Kirk would not be acting like Annakin Skywalker, speeding in a car, too young to drive, and trying to out run authority. NO. He would be on back of the bike with the authority after ratting that little hell raiser out.

And Spock would not be so hasty as to send a human being to an ice planet. Spock was sensitive and though tough at times, he was yearning to feel the emotions displayed in those around him. He would always, carry his own hurts and fears closely before trying to lose them, in reckless decisions or cruel actions.

2012 (I) (2009)
Thankfully, I watched it online at home.

I know that a lot of the special effects are awesome on the big screen but eh, just ain't worth it to me I guess. I did enjoy the first half of the movie. But as soon as the movie turns away from the end of the world happening (with special affects) it gets buried in "what makes us different from animals" I got so bored and was able to pause it several times to: make dinner, eat dinner, do laundry, and drink wine, which of course made the last hour last a good 2 and a half hours but hey, it worked for me. At one point, I actually started tuning into another movie on the TCM channel, but again, the first half of the movie fun... the second half, where one life out of billions lost, is cheered ... give me a break... wine break preferably.

Zombieland (2009)
9/10
Nut up.
22 November 2009
The body count could have been higher that's the only criticism I have for this little gem. Otherwise it was perfectly made, done, executed. I also wish Bill Murray ate someone.

An amusement park and zombies? WOW who thought of that? That was pure freaking genius!

It is right up there with Sean of the Dead. So much fun and so much gore and yes, I was scared a few times, which says a lot since I love horror movies. These are my favorite type of horror movies too. I don't like Saw movies and I don't like those awful twlight crappy movies, but this type of movie is what makes me a horror fan. Me like a lot.

The Sheik (1921)
It's a treasure.
25 January 2009
I can't believe all the apologist critiques. The Sheik is so enjoyable, fun and Valentino is so warm and loving with his co-star, it is a must see! (Plus I love the music that comes with it)

Remember also Valentino at this time in his life, was newly and madly in love with the love of his life, Natasha and he is just radiant throughout this whole film. It's been said that he along with the rest of the cast and crew had the time of their lives romping through the desert making this film. It truly shows.

Valentino is gorgeous in this. I watch it periodically and it leaves the sweetest feeling with me. Go on about the subject matter, about the over emphasis on gestures (it's a silent film, that was the norm) but there is nothing better than to see this gifted and talented man act while he is probably at his most happiest in life.
