Australien skies (2015)
Chilling and Intriguing
This documentary gave me chills. As an Aussie fascinated in this topic, it was really interesting to see it from an Australian perspective and sightings that happen here. There seems to be something special about Damien Nott with UFOs following him around. The fact that helicopters, people in black suits, and parked vehicles show up after a sighting is chilling. The fact that people have been talked out of sharing their experiences also makes me wonder why officials don't want the mainstream to know about this.
I like that the film explores flying drones to show how they are different from sightings. I like also that the film isn't definitive saying they are definitely extraterrestrial but that they could be explained by other things. Not knowing what something is definitely brings immense curiosity!
I would have liked to see more experts examine footage. But overall, it's a very intriguing documentary and I look forward to watching the others in the series.
Night School (2018)
So Funny
I laughed so much during this movie! When the night school students broke in to steal the GED test, the events that proceeded were hilarious!
Fatherhood (2021)
Truly Touching
A truly touching film that had me crying so much. Kevin Hart has an amazing acting range. The little girl was awesome and so natural. All the characters were really realistic.
Cat People: The Cat Show Must Go On (2021)
The Cats Did Amazing
The cats in this episode did amazing in their show. I found myself feeling quite emotional at how hard it was the Cat Circus team during the pandemic, having their bus damaged, and the owner surviving cancer.
Cat People: Cat Rappers Delight (2021)
Love Moshow
I've been following Moshow for years on Instagram and I was so happy to see his story highlighted by Netflix. I cried when he talked about losing Tali. Overall, he's incredibly passionate about cats and rapping and he's done a great job at being himself and sharing his love of cats with the world! I love his creativity and the fact he's been able to make a living following his passions. He's incredibly inspiring!
The Minimalists: Less Is Now (2021)
Impactful
Joshua and Ryan's stories are powerful and relatable and inspire without giving you an overwhelming to-do list. You can just sit back and let their stories change you from within as you imagine how better your life could be if you were able to let go a little more. Like Joshua and his mom, I grew up on welfare and have accumulated a lot of stuff that I find hard to let go. The prospect of getting rid of one item a day for a month (or 2 on the next day and 3 on the 3rd day) seems inviting and doable. I was really inspired that by giving away stuff, you can gain so much. I am impacted by the question "How much of this stuff is actually adding any value to my life at all?" And "What is essential? What is necessary?" I've convinced myself I need to hold on to a lot of things but I'd really like the freedom of having less so I can concentrate on more of what I do want. I also really like Erwin's contributions to the narrative about starting over like a Etch A Sketch and finding your passion when you make the decision to get rid of everything sucking the life out of your soul. This film popped up in my life right when I'm having trouble decluttering and letting go and where I'm standing at a crossroads of staying with the same path I know or the path less travelled. I really want a change and feel like the thoughts in this movie have helped clarify my own inner voice and conversations I have had with a friend.
New Girl: Background Check (2014)
Funniest Episode
This was the funniest episode I've seen so far! I loved it.
A Christmas Prince (2017)
Surprisingly Great
A surprisingly great film! I really enjoyed this. The scenes of the palace are beautiful. The costumes for an imagined kingdom are realistically royal. The snowscapes of Aldovia are enchanting. The details are delightful.
Amber, an aspiring young journalist, faces a massive ethical dilemma when she comes to care about the family she's covering. I like that she has to make a choice between following her heart or propelling her career. I like that Princess Emily has a disability and isn't just the picture perfect royal. I also like how characters react quite naturally to their circumstances and not over-the-top.
