Halo: Halo (2024)
Silly final episode. Halo meets 28 Days Later and World War Z
It was a nice episode / finale, until people started turning into zombies. How silly. Not sure what the setup is for Season 3 - but this is a silly and lazy plot device for a S2 finale. Coincidentally it happens during the big battle.
We see the Spartan-3s in action, we see MC go to the Ring, but then we also see some "contagious spores." As if the writers were trying to cue off COVID fear. Are they working for Pfizer and want to condition people to take more shots? "Spread" isn't what we've been sold. Many environmental factors take precedence and determine if you get sick.
Regardless - Halo Season 2 devolves into a zombie flick with cheap scaremongering. Totally unexpected. I think I've lost interest in any Season 3.
Halo: Onyx (2024)
Halo - A soap opera of the future
Feelings...
Feelings, nothing more than feelings
Trying to forget my feelings of love
Teardrops rolling down on my face
Trying to forget my feelings of love
Morris Albert song from 1975.

I have mixed emotions about Halo the TV show. Like the set design and special effects, but it's following a tired script of strong women...and men dealing with their feelings. A role reversal. Halo tries too hard to represent many ethnicities...or is it just pandering to a worldwide audience? Gotta have a Korean character, an Indian character, strong African-Americans in positions of authority, a Latino character, quasi-LGBT character, etc...
The TV show (and casting) seems "too calculated" --- in a negative way.
This is the only present day TV show I watch, and someday I may just stop watching on a dime - so to speak. Coming in as a Stargate SG1/etc... series fan, Halo is overly melodramatic. Overly PC.
Halo: Allegiance (2022)
Back on track - great episode
Enjoyed this episode. Had a little bit of everything. Unexpected twists and turns kept my attention! Good pacing. With only 1 episode left, I wonder about the cliff hanger until season 2.
Halo: Contact (2022)
Hundreds of years in the future and all they have are AK-47 like weapons
With that said it was a nice intro if I don't think about that. You'd think at least they would have some lasers or what not. Or some other kind of heavier weapon.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Dumb
Haven't been excited to see a movie in ages, and sadly, this did not live up to the preview or any hype.
Major disappointment.
On Hannibal's Trail (2010)
Too much focus on presenters
This documentary could have been so much better. As a reference, I've seen numerous documentaries on Hannibal from NatGeo and BBC among others, but they didn't specifically focus on the trail itself that Hannibal took.
The premise for this doc is intriguing, but poorly executed. There are way too many closeups of any of the (3) brothers, and their banter and musing gets tiring - the focus is supposed to be about the TRAIL not the presenters! Too many camera angles and quick changes distracted from understanding the march into Italy.
The HD video is very clear, and the narration - when it does concern Hannibal's assault - is good. The references to Polybius and Livy are great. The maps that are presented of the route are excellent.
More panorama shots of the brothers riding amongst the scenery is better than mere closeups of them, which does not tell one anything (visually) about the trail, rather it is more a form of self-glorification. But then, maybe one or all of these brothers were part of this march in a past life...and war was glory for many back then...
