Memento (2000)
Overrated.
OK, granted this movie has a unique premise. This movie is quite entertaining and will keep ya watching. But this movie is not the amazing work of art many would have you believe. It is a decent thriller with a twist in that it works backwards and puts the watcher into the same mindset of our main character who has reoccuring amnesia. Decent movie that changes the viewers opinion throughout the flick as our character slowly works his way through time in reverse. We see things happen and then we slowly find out how those things came to be as we move farther back.
***********Spoiler****************
One major fault in the movie. The scene where our main character is manipulated by the lady to deal with her boyfriend is completely screwy. They tried to make it out that she totally planned it and covered all the bases but if one watches that scene one can see that one million things could have gone wrong and even should have when she plays her game and gets hit. Hiding of the pens, the seriously fast relapse of the main character (and her not knowing at that point how fast a lapse takes), and other problems just bugged me with that one scene. It was the most far fetched part of the entire movie and should have been done differently.
Starstruck (1982)
Great movie
This movie is awesome. The characters are great. The music is amazing. The plot is entertaining. I have watched this movie many times and it never gets old. A lost gem of a movie that very few people have ever seen.
Shock Treatment (1981)
It's no RHPS
This movie is definately no Rocky Horror, but it is not that bad. First time I saw this flick I was not to impressed. Brad and Janet were acted by other actors, no Tim Curry, Richard O'Brien and the rest of the Rocky cast in diferent roles, and most important not a single reference to the happenings of the original movie by the characters. I watched this flick afew more times (mostly for the music, some songs are great) and I must say it grew on me. I actually like this movie alot now (I gave it 9/10). I just must say that it works better on its own then as a RHPS sequel and recommend it is taken as a "new" movie. Get ready for extreme camp and quirkiness if you are gonna watch it.
The Wanderers (1979)
This is IT!
This movie is awesome. It is the single best movie in the teenage/gang type movies and I have no idea why this movie is not alot more known, it is clearly a lost classic and highly underrated. This movie is way better then "The Outsiders" "Grease" or any other film in this similar genre. 10/10 easy.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Love this flick
Probably the best movie I have ever watched. The music in this flick is amazingly good, the casting is awesome, the plot is great, and the camp atmosphere is heaven. This is one movie I can watch over and over again and still be entertained. There is a reason it is the most famous of all cult movies and has garnered such a following.
One thing I will say though, this is a love it or hate it movie. Most likely you will think it is great or you will think it is horrible, no in-between.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
Requires abit of intelligence
This movie is hilarious yet the comedy is the type that requires a person has a fair bit of intelligence to understand what exactly the joke is. The jokes in this movie are multi-dimensional and are usually masked by extremely perverse and blunt facades. If you think the joke is a maniac rabbit or that knights say Ni and somehow injure people doing so then I think it is safe to say the real comedy of the movie went flying way over your head. Stick to the simple comedy that requires no thinking. But, if you are the type of person that can see the hidden meanings and see beyond the facade then you will see the true comedy and catch the jokes as they were meant to be captured. This is THE funniest movie ever made, but you actually have to get a joke for it to be funny.
