Utopia (II) (2014)
10/10
An interesting cross of reality shows
12 October 2014
What caught my attention about this series is its similarity to The Discovery Channel's "The Colony". It also has elements in common with CBS's "Big Brother" and "Survivor". But at the same time, it is it's own show. There is no winner to this show, and no big prize at the end.

The cast is made up of 15 different people with different skill sets, experiences, and ideas. On paper this group of people should be able to create a thriving community. Especially since some of the members of this community have overlapping skills (IE the "huntress", the contractor, and the handy man that can do a little of both). But the reality doesn't work quite that smoothly. This is what makes it a "social experiment".

My only issue with this show is the mandatory vote out. I am curious to see what these people accomplish over their time in Utopia. And I am hopeful for a second season.

To the naysayers I have to wonder why you are even here. This show is exactly what it claimed to be from the start. If that isn't what you want to see, then look somewhere else.

O.K. Garage (1998)

Don't let the cover fool you. This is slow, dull, and at times just weird

"All Revved Up" is a very ironic title for this, because if this movie was any slower, it would be moving backwards. It is a classic example of good actors and actresses in very bad parts. The characters have the energy of zombies, but seemingly without the intellect or sense of purpose. It has one brief action scene somewhere near the end, but the "zombies" actually turn out to have little to do with the action.

And don't let the cover fool you. It has little to nothing to do with the movie. I don't recall seeing either of those cars in the entire movie. In fact, the car most seen is a broken down Honda. There is absolutely nothing exciting about this movie.

Doctor Who (2005–2022)
10/10
The New New Doctor
24 August 2009
As an American fan of Doctor Who, I have to say that this series is excellent. It is probably as addicting as Star Trek ever was, if not (dare I say) more so. I always find myself wanting more. It stays true to the original series in many ways. many of the old villains are back, as well as the familiar blue box. The acting is wonderful, and the characters are outstanding. And, one thing this series has over many sci-fi's is the fact that it is set in modern day. It does not take place in some secret base inside a mountain in some near future. As a matter of fact, much of it takes place in and around London, as well as many wondrous locations throughout time and space. If I could have just one series, continually piped into my TV, this would be it.

I have just finished watching season 4 and cannot wait for season 5 to be available on DVD
