It's Alive (2005– )
10/10
Superb Local Horror-Movie Skit Show
4 August 2006
"It's Alive!" is a wonderful television show run on WBGN-TV in Pittsburgh, PA. In the grand tradition of "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark", "Bartelby" or "Chiller Theatre", this show presents B horror movies interspersed with skits from a running caste of characters - Professor Emcee Square, Pointy the Devil, Fritz the Hunchback, Stiffy the Dead Clown, Heather the Mummy, The Whispering Nantucket, Hellga Scheidenentzündung, Mother, Urnie, and Cyst with Teeth and Hair.

You get the idea.

What raises this show above the others is the genuine talent of all involved. All of these characters are members of "Deathmobile", a pretty good rock band. So you get some darn good rock music! Also, frankly, the skits (tied into the movie) are very very very good.

This show is building momentum in this area, thanks to a web site that draws in loyal viewers. Look for "It's Alive!" to take off, not unlike "Mystery Science Theatre".

You can catch it Saturday nights at 10:00. Anyone in the Southwestern Pennsylvania - Eastern Ohio - Northern WV area should be able to see it by cable or satellite dish. Believe me, it will be worth it to find it - and watch it - and get sucked into it.

Female President of an Automobile Company!

This is a wonderful movie! The Art Deco sets are great - especially Miss Drake's house. (High up in the entry hall there is a balcony with a live organist!). Here are some facts: The assembly line for the "Drake" automobile is actually footage of the assembly line for the 1932 Plymouth. That beautiful town car she travels in is a Cord L-29 (as it pulls away listen to that beautiful whine of the front-wheel-drive transmission). George Brent drive a 1929 Packard. (Guess my obsession!)
