Behind Enemy Lines (2001)
An enjoyable movie to watch, although at times it feels like Rambo
You know, I think this movie actually is really good, although it is not perfect.
Basically, the movie is about an American pilot and navigator shot down over Bosnia. The pilot gets killed, and the navigator is forced to take all measures necessary to escape Serb troops that are looking for him.
Of course, there are some parts in the film that sound completely out of the ordinary, such as when Burnett (the main protagonist) is able to dodge hundreds of bullets chasing him.
However, in the film, there are many scenes that show grim events that have occurred in the Bosnian war that devastated that nation in the early 1990's, and they show them in pretty good detail in most cases, such as a scene which shows a mass grave and Serb troops who spot it look appalled at what they see. Another is when an abandoned factory was booby trapped with mines. In real life, Bosnia still contains large numbers of mines left over from the war, even though the war ended 15 years ago.
Bottom line, the movie is really good in my opinion and it is worth your time to watch. Like I said, the movie isn't perfect. But you won't be disappointed.
Rogue Warrior (2009)
It's a walk back in time
I rented this game back in March or so. I never heard of Rogue Warrior and when I looked at the back and front cover to see the description of the game, I got pretty excited. When I got home, I looked up the reviews and I realized the game got unanimously horrendous reviews from critics. So me and my brother decided to see for ourselves on how bad the game was. I will tell you, it was bad alright. The graphics look like something you would get from an XBox or PS2 game, and even many games from these two systems, especially the Xbox since it had better graphics than the PS2 in most games, had better graphics than Rogue Warrior. The use of swearing is off the charts, although it does make the game very funny and probably the only good thing about the game. The enemy AI is terrible. I remember one time I shot out a fuse box when an enemy was very close to it. Not even by yelling out an explicit after that did the enemy pay any attention. You can sprint up to enemies to kill them with knife kills and they won't notice. Speaking of knife kills, these are used in the game. They're very impressive, but are exploited as you can just run from enemy to enemy to take them out. That is because you are invincible when performing knife kills. The game is very short so it's possible you can beat it in one sitting. Final thought, there are so many better first-person shooters that are worth the money.
Sniper 2 (2002)
so bad that its funny
OK, let's get started here. The plot itself is decent. Kill a renegade general responsible for ethnic cleansing and then escape. But that is only the beginning. What is screwed up is that Beckett, who is the main character, is called back from retirement into service, even though he lost his index finger he uses for shooting (and has to use his middle finger for shooting). And Beckett is teamed up with a guy named Cole, who was in jail for killing an officer he suspects betrayed them (he rants about it in the movie in the middle of a battle). The only real good part of the movie is when the Serbian general (who really is Hungarian) is assassinated. The makers of the movie must be on weed. They think that no one will notice that the Serbs are all speaking Hungarian (which has no connection at all to Serbian language even though both nations share the same borders together). Of course, they thought wrong. And since when was a Mosin-Nagant, which Beckett uses, a Mauser? Beckett claims that it's a Mauser. And I thought military personnel were to know their guns. The mission itself supposedly takes place after Milosevic was overthrown in 2000, yet the Serbs claim in the movie they are victims of so-called UN-backed atrocities, but Serbia rejoined the UN after Milosevic was ousted. The acting is poor in many cases as well. For example, Beckett throws his arm up in the air just to look at his watch and when he gives Cole a 'serious' lecture, Cole is about to laugh but holds it in. Had the makers actually PUT serious effort into making this movie I would enjoy it. But unfortunately this is not the case.
Overall a 4/10
