Messages Deleted (2010)
Believable if movie was placed in the mid-90's
If the movie was released sometime between the moment everyone have a cellphone in the 90's and the beginning of police forensics like in the "CSI" TV Series, I would have certainly enjoy this movie.
Movie started good, until the first murder. Detectives are there, but there's no forensics work at all to find out clues about the suspects, no fingerprints verification, no phone records verification, just suspicions and coincidence that Joel appeared on the 2nd crime scene, and listening to the message on Claire's answering machine: "That's our guy! Release the suspect!"
I mean, c'mon, he's a professor at University, he should know better about all the common errors which leads to getting caught, but he just do everything for evidence to lead to him, despite above mentioned sloppy detective work.
Also, after the 2nd murder, why didn't he activate the function to forward all his calls to his cellphone? When a stranger is in a hurry to go to the airport but reluctantly give you a half-way lift for 100$, WHY would you trust that person to wait for you, regardless how much you give him?
Something that ticked me off, back at Millie's place, it is mentioned the original script was reflecting reality, and page 76, it is what's happening now. But Joel wasn't a bit curious to read further in order to figure out what's gonna happen next and find ways to avoid everything bad in the script.
Avoid this movie, unless you're bored and have nothing else to watch but a light crime movie like this one. I originally give it a 1 out of 10, but I'll give a 2 instead for Gina Holden and Chiara Zanni.
Bellas y ambiciosas (2006)
Good soft-core entertainment
Oh boy, how to describe this show.
Plot: "Latin Lover 2: Beauty & Ambition" airs in Canada on Telelatino in original Spanish version. This show has off course pretty girls, cheating, tension, manipulation, back stabbing, video tapes, cheating, even murder, and a character sent to jail. If you don't understand Spanish, you'll have difficulty to understand the plot, unlike in Latin Lover (2001). Who is the old lady? Who is the chick wearing leather? Where does the new training ladies come from and why?
Sex scenes: the photography and lighting in all simulated sex scenes are the strongest points. After a while, you'll ask yourself why the lamps are all turned on when it's obviously sunny outside? You'll also get tired of hearing the same 4 background musics which are getting annoying. When it's not simulated sex on a bed (with rose petals!), the characters are either daydreaming of having sex. In the last set of episodes, some of the female characters left without any on-screen story are seen in solo scenes in various places: taking a bath, a shower, in the pool, the backyard, in front of the bedroom window, or either having sex with a mystery man wearing a mask! There are also obvious mistakes: Why apply sunscreen when the scene is obviously shot in a closed studio set? Why is Andrea always wearing panties or a mini-skirt while having sex? How and why did that guy and chick magically appear in this episode to initiate a sex scene? Sometimes, after a sex scene, one of the character will appear in the next non-sex scene at a different place and time...
The nudity is limited to breasts and butts. There are also no gay or lesbian characters.
Overall, this show is a good soft adult entertainment, but don't try to understand all the scenes and don't expect much on the director's job.
