All or Nothing: A Moscow Detour (2004)
A quiet young woman chronicles her gregarious, outgoing father's professional life in post-Communist Russia
I loved this movie, and I wish I knew if Ms. Bloch is still writing or making films. My boyfriend and I are both creative professionals, and this movie does a great job of showing what a messy, uncontrollable smörgåsbord life (and art) can be. It also showed a talented young woman who is wise enough not to take herself and her work too seriously. That's something a lot of writers and artists a lot older than her should learn. I also thought the underlying story was very sweet, though perhaps this is because my relationship with my dad is not that great and I envied her. I ended up watching it twice because the first time the video had a few glitches. But watching it a second time I enjoyed it even more because I picked up on several things I missed the first time I watched.
