Freedom Downtime (2001)
A deeply upsetting look into human rights abuse in the US.
Freedom Downtime is an eloquent and thought provoking documentary about the disgusting abuse of power in the United States. Kevin Mitnik's life was destroyed by the "justice" system. This film documents the campaign to free him, and provides a fascinating insight into the hacker world. You will laugh, you will cry, you will want to take up arms against the state...
Takedown (2000)
Truly pathetic
"Takedown" is a dire film. Poor direction, poor acting and an embarrassingly bad script make this a film to avoid at all costs. The story of Kevin Mitnik is a fascinating one but "Takedown" misses the mark by miles. If you want to watch a well-made and fun film about hacking, then watch "Wargames". If you want to know the truth about what happened to Kevin Mitnuk then watch "Freedom Downtime". There's simply no reason to watch "Takedown".
WarGames (1983)
The film that started it all for many of us.
For many people in the hacking community Wargames was the film that gave us the first insight into the magic of hacking. This film is so important that it gave the technique "wardialing" its name. Wargames has a perfect sript, stunning special effects and a great soundtrack. It will go down in history as a cinematic gem. Miss it at your peril.
