Bark! (2002)
AWFUL!!!!
Don`t see this!! It`s absolutely pointless as a comedy. I can`t really comment on the acting because the story is so boring. As I read the plot I thought it could be fun, but I was so wrong!
If you wanna see a funny movie which deals with mental illness I`d suggest you see "Bad Boy Bubby" instead. THAT is one funny movie!!
Queen of the Damned (2002)
** out of 10
The Vampire Lestat (as most of you might know from Interview with a Vampire) is back, not in the shape of Tom Cruise but Stuart Townsend.
And that is the problem throughout the entire movie. But first things first..
Lestat awakes from a long slumber, by the sound of Heavy Metal. Realising the power in the music he decides to take over a band, and becomes the leader of heavy metal act "Lestat". Provoking both humans and foremost fellow Vampires.
Now to get back to the problem of the movie: the casting. This movie is a perfect example of what happens when the wrong people is casted. Stuart Townsend as Lestat is terrible, ugly and as sensual as a toilet-seat. Aaliyah is not much better as the Vampire-queen. And the list goes on and on.. This movie should be shown in school as a perfect example of terrible casting!!
Daredevil (2003)
Marvel has another comic book turned into movie...
Ben Affleck takes on the roll of Matt Murdock a young boy who lost his sight in an accident as a young boy. But what he lost in sight, he gained in his other sences. He then takes on all evil under the name "Daredevil"..
Recognize the story? this is yet another comic book turned into movie. This one, aswell as Spiderman, has it`s origin from Stan Lee.
There are a few surprises in the movie:
1. This one actually stay close to the story from the comic book. (Yes, I know Kingpin isn`t black, but who but Michael Clarke Duncan could fill the roll?) Where the terrible "X-men" and mediocre "Spiderman" changed the timelines as they wanted, mixing characters and so on..
2. Ben Affleck is great in the roll of DD, but he DOES look silly in the costume. (who wouldn´t??)
3. A blind man can have a karate-fight in the middle of town, making incredible acrobatic maneuvers, without anyone thinking it`s the least odd!!!
All and all if you like Marvel Comics and/or looking at people hanging in wires and fighting, á la "Crouching tiger - Hidden dragon", then this is something for you.
If you liked this one there is also "X-men" and "Spiderman" and in a couple of months "The Hulk" will make it to the theaters..
Bowling for Columbine (2002)
A must see!!
Michael Moore ones again proves that there are Americans that think different.
This is a documentary about the American view on weapons. Michael Moore is doing this by adding footage of historic events and by interviews.
Michael Moore is here obviously taking a stand. And it is no secret that he is trying to make us come to the same conclusion as he has.
Fabolous!!! Wonderful!!! A must see!!!
Bye Bye Blue Bird (1999)
Islandic roadmovie...
A roadmovie about two young girls, who travels around Island in search of.. something.
This is boring, boring, boring. What the director often tries to achieve in the visual art they often loose in the speed. And that`s the case here. Nothing happens, and things must happen in a road movie. It feels like being stuck in a chewing gum.
Wanna see a road movie? See "Thelma & Louise" Wanna see a good Islandic movie? See "Hrafninn flýgur" (or "When the raven flies")
Ghost World (2001)
Feel good-movie..
2 girls have just finnished high school, it`s time to explore the world. When they stumble across a real "looser" (played by Steve Buscemi) everything changes...
It´s a feel good-movie, no big laughs, not boring..
