Kompromat (2022)
An excellent thriller in a very plausible plot
You don't get to see guts squeezing movies like this one all days. This one is joining the many few others collected through decades on my 'little jewels shelve'.
This quite a simple story, elaborated around true facts, with the necessary pinch of salt that makes it great.
I honestly give a 10 because I don't see how they could have executed that script in any better way.
If you like this style, it will be hard to dislike this one.
The music, the dialogues and the casting are prefect. The political aspects are being swiftly integrated, enough to be consistant, but not enough to let you rest anytime soon until the end.
I'd say this is yet another underrated movie on IMDb. Perhaps a niche that does not suits everyone's desires.
Definitely meeting more than my expectations.
Asteroid City (2023)
Something did go wrong here.
There is, evidently, some magic in Wes Anderson imagination, and it felt so good, to experience it in his previous movies. Obviously, one ingredient of the secret sauce was missing here, as I was praying for caffeine and trying to stay awake until the end. I almost did, but according to my wife, I lost at least 3+5+2 seconds off it. What a pity.
Why? Because despite the amazing decor, the fantastic casting, the original idea, the huge waves of absurdities, and the dozens of obvious and hidden jokes, it just wasn't funny. Nor entertaining.
It was beautiful, astonishingly precisely crafted, leaving no details unattended, I mean, it was perfect! The first 20 minutes gave me the feeling that I was too lucky to be there. But this first impulse faded away, slowly but inexorably, throughout the entire film, leaving me in a state of mind where the envy to sleep was mixed with a single question:"Oh my... What happened here?"
It happens. I'll be there on your next one, Wes, no biggies! I still was beautiful to watch and try to get into your head. Big thank you!
The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
Bold, powerful and surprising...
I'd give it 9. Or Maybe 9.5 if that would exist. So 10 then. That's my little tribute to obliterating the much less open-mined reviews down there.
After watching in a row episode 1, 2, and 3, and recovering from that fantastic immersion, I decided it is about time that I write a review again in IMDB.
The casting surprised me at first, like many. But obviously there is absolutely nothing to say there besides admitting I was wrong.
Deep in my mind I was scared, as so many games did not make it well to the cinema world, but, hey, this had all it needed to be a success, including the director, and the result is better that all I could imagine at the time. I'm so thrilled. I'm so thankful.
The smart tricks used here to stick to the storyline while transporting us deep into otherwise almost unknown characters and develop such a delicate canvas of what's still human in this post-apocalyptic world just baffled me. And remembering the first critics of the game, part 2, I can clearly see here where they found the motivation to go that far into the true naked reality of it. This is not just smart. This is wonderful. It's how the world should be. A place where differences makes all the difference. A net of truly unique persons living all together, against the evil, more than against each other.
A sweet dream of the best we can be even when facing the worst we can fear.
Ok, this is obviously not wonderland in The Last Of Us, and being nice in that world is probably not the easiest surviving path, but I love that we can get high-resolution glimpses of what The Best Of Us could be.
Bruce, Neil, Pedro, Bella, Murray, Nick, all of you guys working on The Last of Us: Thank you for always doing a fantastic job.

Just relax, watch, impregnate, Wonder, and perhaps, shiver
It seems Impossible to not spoil anything in here. But i'll try. This movie is, to me, a masterpiece. They are few in my list. And none entered it in the last 8 years. Sure, there were Many great pieces. But this one, oh my. Watch it. And after that, if you agree with my score, you'll probably also agree that those who thrown less than 8 may have overlooked some very important aspects of it. In my respectfull opinion. The funny thing is what some critisize is what makes it so subtle, refined and perfect.
