EMMY WORTHY
29 May 2024
Rewatching season 1 for the ???? Time. The last 2 episodes of season 1 should have won Emmys for acting (Jensen Ackles and Jeffrey Dean Morgan), writing, directing and producing. The emotion shown by Jensen as Dean was absolutely heartbreaking. Jared's Sam Winchester was also well acted but Jensen's bringing out all the conflict in Dean was palpable and so easy to see. Jeffrey Dean Morgan's portrayal of an obsessed husband of a murdered mother is so believable as to be scary. The scene where Dean challenges his "Dad" as to who he really is blows my mind as to the emotional toll on both Sam and Dean. And that closing scene-absolutely brilliant!!!!

Terrifyingly Possibilities
21 April 2024
Even though this miniseries is 16 years old, the scenarios it presents are within the realm of possibility in today's world. Not wanting to actually give any real consequential plot, I must say this series of 5 episodes reminds me a bit of the "Left Behind" series of books which were, of course, based on the book of Revelation in the Bible. Not to say there is any aspect of religion contained therein, but the ability of certain groups to believe they are wiser than all others and know what is best for any and everyone, whether just plain folks agree or not. Kinda terrifying, in my opinion. And based on "This is being done for security." As always Benedict Cumberbatch gives an amazing realistic believable performance. I would not be surprised to find the basis of this story is happening somewhere today.

I absolutely loved this movie.
27 December 2023
I did not read any reviews on this movie prior to finding it on Ovation- Christmas Day Marathon. That said, I am so thankful I found it. As a Christian believer, this movie reminded me of one of the lessons I learned in my Baptist Sunday School: "When you put God first, you will see God in everything." This movie proved that point.

Tayla Lynn (granddaughter of THE Loretta Lynn) plays a young single Mom (Rose) who finds herself and her 7 year old daughter (Katie) homeless (evidently her young daughter's Dad cheated on her and did something that made him a "bad man"). Rose believes God hears those who trust Him and feels He has proven that because she was given a meal for her daughter and her when she asked at a local small diner. Then to top it off, she was given a job waitressing and Katie was fed breakfast each day as she waited for her school bus. However she and Katie are still having to sleep in her car because the small local diner is not open 24 hours.

The Salvation Army has scheduled a "Santa" in front of the diner and he enjoys breakfast often with Katie, who believes he is "the Real Santa". One morning Katie asks "Santa" (whose "every day name" is Charlie) if there really are 2 lists-a naughty AND a nice list and wonders if she is on the naughty list because she has never gotten a gift from Santa.

From then on, IF you look for it, it is very easy to see God's hand moving in all these lives.

I will stop my narrative here and strongly suggest you find this movie and watch it for yourself. The movie is not "preachy" so it is not strictly for Christian believers but is very family friendly.

I have seen some reviews that question "why certain things happen"-what happened to Katie's Dad, what happened in Charlie's life, etc? Also some reviewers disparaged the actors but I found a genuineness in the actors and their performances, especially Emma Faith Ashley as "Katie" and Tayla Lynn as "Rose".

The Blessing Bracelet (2023 TV Movie)

Great movie about how faith brings hope.
10 April 2023
This Hallmark movie is just a little different from the run of the mill Hallmark movie. There is a mother who has been betrayed by her (now ex) husband and her son who misses his Dad who he has not seen in 3 years. The Mom has been (unsuccessfully) struggling to get herself caught up on all the debt that's been accumulating since the hubby walked away. Thankfully she has great friends who are willing to help. On the way to an annual Valentine dinner with her friends, she finds a "Blessing Bracelet" she and her friends used to make in high school. She wears it to the dinner and the blessings start. Of course, a romance begins and a complication arises, but the "Blessing Bracelet" she wears is a reminder that faith and hope can work miracles.

Great performances Wonderful story
8 November 2022
I read many of the reviews calling the movie "sappy" and maybe it was to some. I am not a movie critic and like most movies-just so anyone reading this knows who I am.

I found this story very compelling and I became very emotional watching it. Both Chante Adams and Michael B. Jordan were ideally suited for these roles. I believe every one wants the kind of love shared by Dana and Charles.

As difficult as it must have been to be separated from each other due to Charles' military duty, the journal Charles wrote for his son was a connecting thread for the family.

Charles wanted to be a great Dad and left his son a journal showing his love and teaching Jordan how to be a man.

I loved this movie.

Brilliant performance by Bill Pullman
15 June 2022
I just watched this great western!! The 5!leads: Bill Pillman (as Lefty Brown), Kathy Bates (Laura Johnson), Tommy Flanagan (Marshall Hannah) and Jim Cavaziel (as Jimmy Pierce) all did a great job, as did, "The Kid" Pedro Josef (as Jeremiah). So much talent!! Peter Fonda appeared briefly as a very important character.

Bill Pullman did an amazing performance as Lefty Brown. Bill Pullman was so completely lost into this character that I could not tell who the actor was!!

If you enjoy real stories, especially westerns, I heartily recommend.

Very late viewing

I just saw this last episode of this wonderful series, many years after it ended. Personally I found the ending satisfactory. I especially loved the scene on the cabin porch between Vic and Walt where they expressed their real feelings.

Truly a remarkable series.

Don't expect Ricardo Montalban!! But fun show, anyway!!
25 August 2021
I see there are very many negative reviews for this new show. I am surprised at the number because I have watched the first 3 episodes and I personally find it entertaining.

This show is NOT the original but the new actors do a good job bringing the characters to life. Roselyn Sanchez is very good as Elena Roarke, grand niece of Ricardo Montalban's Mr. Roarke. As Elena Roarke explains, "The island.knows how to fulfill the fantasies".

I hope folks will give this show a chance and I hope it lasts. Interesting to see what writers come up with as people's fantasies.

Great storytelling
19 April 2020
I just finished season 6 which has built on all the 5 seasons-each one of which was better than the last. Titus Welliver IS Harry Bosch. All the other actors are great in their roles. Season 6 brings what appears to be domestic terrorism along with a cold case Harry just can't let go. All the drama and intrigue of the Michael Connelly books can be found in this series. Happy to hear Amazon has given the go ahead for season 7, but very sad to hear season 7 will be the last season. Highly recommend!!'

A film showing REALITY
9 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As a Christian and a Bible believer, I am fully aware that we live in 2 worlds, the physical world most call real and the spiritual world that truly is real AND eternal. This film shows both those worlds as forces from God and Satan fight over the soul of a freshman Senator. The film shows the back room dirty dealings in Washington, along with the lying manipulations of a pharmaceutical company promoting a "miracle" cancer cure, as the fight for the soul goes on. Lots of action and lovely Washington D.C. scenery. If you are a believer, you will see what we know to be true brought to the screen. If you are not a believer, please open your mind and heart to the truth of God's love and Jesus' sacrifice as you watch this film

Be prepared to cry
9 July 2014
I was able to watch this episode on UP (Uplifting) Television. This was one of my favorite shows when it was originally aired and I thought I had seen all the episodes. However, either my memory has gone bad or this is an episode I missed. Anyway, this episode was very moving in so many ways. I don't want to give away anything, but there were many emotional issues within this episode, all of which were handled with a God view. This episode, which originally aired in 1998, brought forth the issues many families face, especially in today's 2014 world where marriage is not considered "for life". As most of the stories in this wonderful series do, this episode stands the test of time. The performances by Bruce Boxleitner, Melissa Gilbert and Zach Graham were a great part of making this a very believable episode. And Roma Downey, John Dye and Della Reese were perfect in their roles, as always. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode.

Nero Wolfe (1979 TV Movie)

Interesting interpretation
1 February 2014
I just watched this adaptation of one of my favorite detectives on ME (Memorable Entertainment) television on AT&T U-Verse. I have enjoyed Mr. Stout's books for years and enjoyed this (assumed) pilot.

When I saw it listed I thought it was the A&E series with Timothy Hutton and Maury Chaykin and I had enjoyed that series for the short time it was on.

I agree with one of the other reviewers that Mr. Thayer was really too slim to play Nero Wolfe, but I had enjoyed his appearances on "Dark Shadows" and did not let that deter my enjoyment.

Tom Mason was entertaining as Archie Goodwin, but Timothy Hutton's performances on the A&E series had spoiled me.

I am glad I stuck with the airing and enjoyed the others in the cast, especially Anne Baxter. If you ever get the chance, I think you might enjoy this also.

Now You See Me (I) (2013)

Amazing movie
30 August 2013
Just saw this movie on Pay per view. It is one of the most interesting and entertaining movies I have seen in a long time. The acting is wonderful-especially Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman. Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson and Isla Fisher are the perfect "Four Horseman", backed initially by an enigmatic Michael Caine. Melanie Laurent adds a nice touch as in Interpol agent who may (or may not) have her own agenda. The plot is intriguing, with many twists and turns that really surprised me-and my son-in-law-who was watching it with me. I just wonder what kind of mind can come up with all the twists. If you love a thought provoking movie, spend this couple of hours,-you will not regret it.
