The Witcher (2019)
As a fan of the Witcher I thought that season 1 was a decent and worthy enough adaptation. Season 2 however is mediocore and unworthy of the Witcher universe label.
Honestly, even if season 2 was of it's own original fantasy universe and not an adaptation it would still be quite a poor season. Anyways, as far as adaptations go I'm okay with changes from the original narrative if the changes make sense. The changes they have made however do not make sense. Additionally, so many of the characters in this season are unbelievably dull. The dialogue is so weak. How do you make rich and interesting characters like Geralt, Yennefer, and Vesemir so terribly boring? These are well defined and deep characters that have so much material to draw from.... I've watched the first season of the Witcher several times and although it's not perfect I do find it enjoyable. I'm finding season 2 to be a slog to get through. Episode 1 was decent but after that it's just mediocre. I don't care about the characters anymore. I don't understand them. I don't care about the narrative. How do you take such a great story and then turn it into such mediocrity? It seems like the series creators cared more about themselves and making something that is their own story instead of using the existing story and making something that people would actually enjoy.
All or Nothing: Toronto Maple Leafs (2021)
Cathartic for Maple Leaf fans... Interesting and revealing for hockey fans in general
As a long time hockey fan I like others have been fascinated with this current Maple Leafs team penchant for failure. If you follow what is going on in the NHL you know that this is a team that on paper and in the regular season is supposed to be a Stanley Cup contender in the playoffs, and yet they continue to fall short of that title year after year. Those like myself who are not Maple Leafs fans all enjoy to poke fun of the team and the fan base, but those who are respectable hockey fans know that at the end of the day this is a professional hockey club with a rich history that has players and staff that deserve to be respected. I expect that this series will earn this current team some sympathy and respect from both fans or foes alike. It does a great job of humanizing super star players on a level an average person can understand and relate with. This is a deep dive into the 2020-2021 Maple Leafs season and it does a really great job highlighting the highs and lows the individuals that make up this team go through. Whether you are a Maple Leafs fan or not you will find value in this series. I would recommend it to any hockey fan.
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
I couldn't wait for the episode to end.
Literally every character acted the complete opposite as they would have normally. Worst writing ever.
