Loki: The Nexus Event (2021)
Had to Review This Episode
Totally amazing!! Was blown away by this episode.
Owen Wilson as Mobius is fantastic - his chemistry with Tom Hiddleston is undeniable, but he is the heart of the show, and one of the best new marvel characters I've seen in a while. Such depth to his performance. Just want to see him get his moment on a jet ski.
The last episode was necessary to give weight to the this one, but have to admit it wasn't great in its execution, but who cares! This episode has made up for it and then some.
Cannot wait to see where it goes from here! Was on the edge of my seat and literally shouted out at some of the incredibly devised moments of episode 4. Bring on the rest x.
Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa (2013)
Abso-bloody-exactly
Alan Partridges transition to the silver screen is a ride worth taking, as smooth and elegant a ride as a test drive in a brand new Range Rover. Every component working at maximum efficiency, with very few bumps along the way that the British precision engineering couldn't withstand and steer back on track.
With Alan at the steering wheel, hands clad in functional leather driving gloves and sporting the attire of a top gear presenter circa 5-10 years ago, he is in control of his vehicle (like said top gear presenter) and delivers almost all of the movies best lines, which are all very quotable additions to the ever growing compendium of partridge-isms.
With the roles of Lynn, Michael, Dave Clifton and sidekick Simon reprised for the movie, Alan plays off of each of them to great comic effect. The crucial role of Pat Farrell, played by Colm Meaney, is sacked after 'North Norfolk digital' is taken over and rebranded 'Shape'. This sets the story in motion when he channels the spirits of 'network' and hosts an armed siege at the radio station for which Alan Partridge becomes the negotiator.
The plot gives plenty opportunity for Alan to get into all sorts of ruddy situations, but the majority of laughs come from simple encounters and fleeting moments of little consequence. Towards the conclusion the film loses focus slightly, but it pulls up its slacks for a textbook conclusion on Cromer pier.
Pound for pound, Alpha Papa is the funniest movie in a long while, and Steve Coogans performance is sublime, and he's allowed to show off the many shades of Partridge, light and dark, but mainly light. And it's all flipping funny.
Die hard FOP (fan of partridge) or casual indulger, you'll be laughing so hard you'll have kenco coming out of your nostrils ... On the off chance you're drinking that while watching the movie
