Terrifier 2 (2022)

Just sick and pervert
22 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I always wonder who watches this crap! There is absolute no story, no character development, just a few bad and very gory kills. In reality the poor girl Allie, who gets tortured, her eye stabbed out, scalped etc. Would die just because of a blood shock.

Lead actress Lauren LaVera is good as Sienna, the only person who can take on the Killerclown. Again David Howard Thornton as Art gives a fine performance but he can't save this really bad movie. The ending is just stupid. Sienna dies in a watertank but a magic sword brings her back to life and gives her superpowers. People who like this kind of crap must be really sick and pervert. With a running time of 139 minutes the film is also way much too long.

If you love good and thrilling horror movies stay away from this crap!

The most brutal episode of this series
22 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In the middle of the night the cat pulls Pinocchio out of bed. He tells him he is invited to a party. In reality Pinocchio should trigger the fox and the cat wants to help him because the poor fox gets constantly beaten from a big, fat and sadistic innkeeper for every little thing because he was just hungry, hadn't eaten for days, had no money and bounced the colliery.

The tender, small and defenseless fox gets it pretty hard in this episode: Towards the end, the poor fox is beaten half dead by the fat innkeeper for something he hasn't anything to do with because it was Pinocchio who threw the tray with the dishes on the floor. This injustice annoyed me immensely as a child and it still does now.

Always on the weaker I think that is not okay. The so-called "villain" rather awakens my protective instincts. This was the most brutal episode of this animation series from the 70ies. I guess the screenwriters must have been real sadists.

Die Mamba (2014)
8/10
Great entertainment
16 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Austrias Top-Comedian Michael Niavarani plays a double role: he is the clumsy sound designer Hossein who has just lost his job and he is also the most dangerous agent in the world, called the "Mamba". Niavarani is surprisingly good as Mamba, tough, trained in martial arts, a real killing machine – not a role you would expect from him. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Steven Seagal should take care because soon Niavarani will do their jobs.

The wonderful actress Proschat Madani (CopStories) plays Hosseins wife and it is such a funny pleasure to watch her. She is a very jealous wife and follows her husband to Marokko. Christoph Maria Herbst (Stromberg) is CIA Agent Bronski who hunts the Mamba but I think he would have needed much more screen time. Julie Engelbrecht is one of his agents and does a nice job.

Melika Foroutan plays Agent Sherazade who has a crush on the Mamba but she doesn't know that she confuses him with the clumsy Hossein. Foroutan is really great in her action scenes but not very much convincing in the romantic scenes.

Bronskis hunt for the Mamba leads him to some great places in the world. We see them in Vienna, especially in the Zoo Schönbrunn with the animals in the background and in Casablanca with a beautiful Bollywood-looking background.

One of the funniest scenes is the guest appearance from Gregor Seberg and Liliane Klebow from "Soko Donau (aka Soko Vienna)" but I don't wanna spoil too much here.

Good direction, great camera work, fast edits and an action driven story makes this comedy to the perfect entertainment for a rainy Sunday. And the idea to turn comedian Michael Niavarani into an Action hero is just great!

The Austrian Way
2 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
„The Uppercrust" bases loosely on the AKH scandal, the scandal about the most famous hospital in Vienna. Made in the early 80ies but the political situation in Austria has not changed since then.

I have to agree with the other users: Frank Gorshin's performance as Hit-man is really great. He shines throughout the rest of the cast. Broderick Crawford has a fine guest appearance in the first few minutes. Nigel Davenport has a fine appearance, too as journalist who tells Gorshins Hit-man this is the typical Austrian way.

Lukas Resetarits is good as Haumer, the but rest of the Austrian cast is really terrible. Franz Buchrieser as Kottan mumbles his lines and looks more like a factory worker than an investigator, the rest is not to mention. The only interesting thing is that this was the last time Buchrieser played Kottan, on TV it was now Lukas Resetarits who played Major Adolf Kottan.

The camera work is not very good, Peter Patzaks direction in his early film and TV works always looked a little bit amateurish and Helmut Zenkers script not always really works. Some of the best scenes of this film are the differences: The first scenes were shot in L.A. and are all bright and sunny. The scenes in Vienna are all dark and gray like the city itself, its always snowing or raining in almost every scene. That is also the mood of this film.

It's really not a masterpiece but Frank Gorshin gives such an impressing performance that you watch it until the end. Without him the whole movie would be forgettable.

Sand Sharks (2012)

This is a Comedy !
3 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
When you have a story like that you have only two choices: You make a "serious" film and fail or you make a comedy out of it, which is the only way that works.

Director Mark Atkins and lead actor Corin Nemec (far away from his Parker Lewis fame) made a good choice and turned it into a comedy. Especially Nemecs over-the-top performance is really worth to watch. What else should they do. I mean, sharks who can swim in the sand (!)- sounds ridiculous but the comedy style saves the whole film.

The Special effects are typically for a SciFy movie but okay, yet they don't have the budget of Jaws or Piranha 3D which gives the film a special charm.

Did I mention that Brooke Hogan is in it? She's the eye-candy in here. Spoiler alert: this is not a Horror Movie, it's a Comedy, so don't take it serious !

The wonderful story of a passionately driven Filmmaker
17 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
A shy young man enters the stage of a movie theater and proudly tells his audience that his latest film just got an invitation to an Underground Film Festival only a few minutes after he uploaded the trailer of his film.

Director Houchang Allahyari shows the man behind the pseudonym Robert Tarantino: a man who quit his job to live only for his art. His parents never understood his passion and to him this seems to be a lifelong trauma. We see performances of him as a Singer/Songwriter with a very beautiful and sad song about a girlfriend who committed suicide years ago. We also see his performance as a Comedian and a lot of very funny scenes from his earlier movies with titles like "Wild Rebel", "Vampires in Vienna" or "Vampire City".

As a filmmaker, Robert Tarantino is a rebel without a crew: he writes the screenplay, produces, directs, is also his own director of photography while he also acts in his films, composes the soundtrack, edits the film and is also responsible for the "special effects".

The documentary follows him through the making of his latest project, a slasher flick called "Blood City Massacre". His male leading actor is a wild looking wrestler who has his whole body tattooed, his lead actress is a beautiful model and dancer with not that much acting experience. The rest of his cast are amateur actors, too and it is pretty funny to watch how the film is made: the passion of the director and how he motivates his cast reminds me a little bit of Johnny Depp as Ed Wood in Tim Burton's homage.

In a great scene the lead actress does not understand the script (well, she's a model!) and director Tarantino explains to her that in Trash movies some scenes do not always have to make sense, that is how these films are made. One actor left the set after a day of shooting and never came back, so they all had to be creative and changed the screenplay.

Finally Robert Tarantino completes his film and we see him and his cast at the successful premiere of "Blood City Massacre".

If you love films, especially Independent Films or Trash Movies than this documentary is a must see. It takes a humorous look behind the making of such films but with real respect for the filmmaker and his cast. This is the wonderful portrait of a passionately driven Filmmaker, who would give his own life for his art.

Pure Cinemagic
16 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This is by far the best film from filmmaker/actor Wolf Morrison. Known for his funny versions of Trash Films here is his first serious film, an homage to the works of David Lynch.

He himself gives a solid performance: first he is the womanizer, who meets the lovely girl Julie in a bar and takes her home after saving her from being beaten by the bar owner, but he also understands her feelings of being lost in the city. After her death he becomes the sensitive one, who misses his big love and finally the one who takes his revenge.

But it is lead actress Julia Prock-Schauer who steals almost every scene. She is the shy, sensitive Julie that Scott fell in love with and she is also her sexy twin sister Karen, a femme fatal who seduces Scott just to put him down on the next day. Her performance is just outstanding!

And, of course, every good film has a great villain and Seth Raven as Mr. Househover is excellent is his role. There is one fine scene, when Scott enters his place to take his revenge and Househover just laughs at him.

Sonja Grenz as Petra, who tries to help Scott (they once had a relationship)and Astrid Vineyard as Stacy, the reporter who found Scott's lost tapes complete this excellent cast.

"Lost in Vienna, Austria" is so much more than just a simple revenge- story. There are some really great filmed surreal nightmare sequences in it and especially when Scott, Petra or Stacy look at some lost video footage the viewer is never sure if what he sees is real or just a video.

A story somewhere between Film Noir, Mystery Thriller and Drama with a beautiful cinematography, cool edits and an excellent Soundtrack between classical score, Jazz and Singer/Songwriter stuff and not to forget the fine performances from the actresses and actors make this film to something special. This is pure Cinemagic!

Director's Cut Funny Version
23 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't seen the original version, just the funny Director's Cut version which I really enjoyed. Boll has humor and he is self-ironic enough that he doesn't take all the hate-postings on the IMDb much too serious.

"House of the Dead" has all that a Cult movie needs: Bad young actors, beautiful and sexy starlets, a strong lead character (Jurgen Prochnow), a good support actor (Clint Howard), kick-ass action scenes and a story that is so stupid that it's just unbelievable.

Like Boll says in the audio commentary: the original script didn't work so he made it funnier. Even if the Action-scenes are shot in a special style, they don't really work always. If you don't take this movie too serious it is good entertainment. Not a masterpiece but funny to watch.

Albino Farm (2009)
3/10
A mixture of Genre Classics
22 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
"Albino Farm" is a mixture of Genre Classics like "Hills have eyes", "Wrong Turn" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", it has a great atmosphere, some good shocking moments and a fine appearance by Scream Queen Bianca Barnett (unfortunately she hides her beauty here behind the wild mask of a character named Pig Bitch).

Those are the good things about this movie. The actors here, especially the Leads, are that bad that you may ask how they get their parts. Maybe because they didn't cost money. The male lead actors are the worst I have ever seen in a movie. The guy who plays Brian makes fun about the hillbillies but he himself looks like one of them, the other guy who played Sanjard (or whatever his name was) gives such a wooden performance that you may think he is a robot and not a human being. He speaks his lines without any emotion. The girls are nice but no good actresses, too. But they scream and shout and show some emotion and that is much more than the male actors do.

The ending is pretty funny but I have seen this kind of movie and also this kind of ending in a few more movies before so it really is not new to me. Don't expect a masterpiece, there are much better Horror Movies but "Albino Farm" is nice entertainment on a rainy Sunday Afternoon.

Romy (2009 TV Movie)

Disappointing and Miscasted
15 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This movie could have been an interesting biography of Austrias greatest actress Romy Schneider who started her career as a teenager in the trashy "Sisi"-movies as the lovely empress of Austria and became one of France greatest character actresses. She had a successful career as an actress but her private live was a tragedy.

This is the stuff of which biopics are made of but this movie has only the level of a cheap soap opera. Most of the actors and actresses are just miscast, especially Jessica Schwarz in the leading role of Romy Schneider.

The real Romy had charisma, style, a sensual kind of sex-appeal and was a great character actress which she could prove especially her work with Saudet, Girod or Visconti. Jessica Schwarz has nothing of that. She is just a bad actress. The shoes of Romy Schneider are much too big for her, even her voice is terrible but also the other actors and actresses are really bad: Guillome Delorme as Alain Delon, Maresa Horbiger as Romys mother Magda Schneider but one of the biggest mistakes was to cast Karlheinz Hackl, an actor with no charisma and no charm as the charismatic womanizer Wolf-Albach Retty, the father of Romy and one of Germans biggest movie stars in the 30ies and 40ies.

Such a bad cast belongs to a Soap Opera. If you are a fan of Romy Schneider this movie will only disappoint you. Stay away from it and better watch a documentary about her life.

Much better than "Vampire City I"
31 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
"Vampire City 2 - Rock 'N Roll Zombies from Outer Space" was one of the craziest movies I have ever seen and I mean this positive. Yes, it reminds of Ed Woods "Plan 9" but its not that boring. It even has a guy in it who is a professional Wrestler and looks like Tor Johnson. His character name here is Chief (!) Inspector Clay. The lead character's name is Agent Ed Wood - guess who? When Zombies try to destroy the world with bad music they haven't thought that the crazy Austrians fight back - with Schlager and Volksmusic - the worst music they have here. Not even the toughest Zombie can stand this kind of music.

This is a No Budget movie but it looks much better than the usual one's, it has cool music and lead actor Wolf Morrison who plays 10 (!) different characters here.

Part 2 is much better and funnier than Part 1 because it had a real good script. If you wanna have a lot of fun, pretty girls, crazy Zombies and good music - go for it!
