Chozen (2014)
8/10
A beautiful mess with intriguing intention
11 December 2014
So many people hated this show. I wish people gave it a chance. There are many reasons why the show flopped. I'll give my review and maybe it will answer a few things. First- I love gay subculture, specially the bear culture. So having an animated show about a gay bear was awesome! Then, I don't mind Rap- but not immersed too much into the lingo at all or even recent people. Hey I listened to Eminem and Insane Clown Posse- what do I know about Rap and Hip-hop? Nothing. So maybe I'm coming from the demographic this show is meant to be for- Gay people who sort of like rap. I have no clue. I loved this show the first time it aired. However I knew a few of the jokes they where trying way too hard. The animation was hot- damn they made Chozen sexy as hell. I can see that it was meant to be a satire on rap/ hip-hop culture by using a WHITE, GAY, maybe even Jewish/Italian guy doing rap. The show was trying too hard to be offensive in some parts- but it really did have a heart. Somewhere, it had a nice message but it never got time to really truly develop it's characters and when it just got good. Bam, cancelled. I personally give this show 8 out of 10 because of it's effort. Sometimes it hits the mark... other times it doesn't. But I loved it!

Darknet (2013–2014)

An Amazing Show- A puzzle and a thinker!
11 December 2014
My Husbear and I where searching up something good to watch. This was one of those shows where we thought it was just going to be another cheesy anthology series. Boy, we where wrong. Darknet is gruesome smart. A Puzzle of a series that all connects by this spooky website... almost like that Best Gore site. I loved watching all of the episodes and it's a quick watch too cause it's just so damn intriguing. We would be like, "Oh wait, I think that happens"... and then it turns the tables and something else happens that you'd least expect. There is some confusion at first- but that means they are making a show that makes the audience truly use their heads and think and be surprised at the outcomes. This is one of those shows that you have to watch more than once to see what you may have missed. It rivals American Horror Story and this show doesn't have a lot of publicity... it's truly a hidden gem. Netflix really needs to pick up a season 2 for this show stat.

The title character truly takes the movie higher
11 December 2014
This could of been your normal creepy Possession movie... and in some ways it is. But this film is truly disturbing on a physiological level of a loved one going completely insane and having no control over his/her body. I've seen the exorcist, never found it scary. But this movie is creepy! And all thanks to the lead Actress who played Debrah. She just had her 110% in it! Giving the role a Realism and scare-factor that would've been dull and dumb and made this movie have a lower-rating. I was interested and fascinated at how her transformation would go. What was it? The other portions of the movie- such as the sound design, the setting and omg the ENDING- is potential nightmare fuel. And I watch plenty of horror films, it was just an amazing ending for such a spooky build-up. The pseudo-documentary parts where kind of, meh, but gladly it faded away. I loved the "documentary"/ "found footage" element- even though it has been done to death, this movie seems to hit it on the mark. It's a great watch. But something amazing? Not really. But it's worth it just to see great acting on "how to go crazy".

Dark Shadows (2012)

Teeters on Being Bad and Good and Inbetween.
14 May 2012
The many bad reviews for this movie had me wondering, so I decided to watch to movie to see for myself if it lives up to what horrible monstrosity Dark Shadows is. And I came out surprised and oddly liking the movie more than what "many" say that it's terrible. YES it's not one of Tim Burton's Best and it does have elements where it plods and too many characters that It's not sure what to do with them but for me the highlights of the movie was Johnny Depp, The Music and just the overall weird vibe I got from it all. It's almost like Tim's version of a Popcorn movie, try not to think about it too much and go into it like I did saying that it's a hammy-B movie and you'll come out of the thearte pleased. PLUS I loved the poop-show Ending it was like WTF!!!!!!!

Rio (2011)
8/10
This movie will make you dance!
16 April 2011
I've read critiques reviews of this movie giving it low grade of a C. But I ignored the critiques because they have no clue what they are talking about- Seriously this movie is awesome, not amazing though. There's a difference. Some parts are a little meh but they are so few and far between- Rio managed to become a movie that I surprisingly fell in love with.

My favorite characters are that small bird and that fat red bird- which names escape me now. Oh and the guy who looks JUST like the DAD from Coraline- really he DID Lmao and acted like a younger version of him. Then that very minor character of the night guard, cause he was SUCH a Bear lol.

The songs really pull this movie together truly and not only that but the mixture of kid and adult humor (though one scene was SO weird and awkward towards the end). My favorite songs are the main title song and the one where Anne Hathaway goes Yayayayayayayayaya yaaaaa. Everyone in the thearte almost danced- but the little kids couldn't help it and did.

Another small negative is the running time- or maybe just the pacing. But I didn't notice it too much. Rio is a great family movie, Rio I think is a great movie if you want to have FUN at a cinema instead of nitpicking on things that don't really matter. I found this movie to be better than Despicable Me.

Strapped (2010)
10/10
The best gay movie I've seen in years.
2 January 2011
the BEST gay-themed movie I've ever seen in a long time . Three words- Elegant, Erotic and Profound. Some might critic about the stereotypes in this movie, the episodic plot and the ambiguity of it all. But the amazing acting moves the episodes so smoothly, the Honesty of its material makes it more then just your run-of-the-mill gay themed movie.

Another plus for this movie, all the guys are hot and great acting. The ending scenes alone are quite awesome and the beginning scene really pulls you into what the movie is all about. It's a rare movie where it will make you horny and make you weep at the same time (if you get emotional at movies lol).

Ben Bonefant said in an interview: "It's like a gay man's Christmas Story" I couldn't agree more. Gritty and real and sometimes Dream-like Strapped manages to be This Unexpectedly moving movie about a gay Hustler, an emotional experience HIGHLY recommend it A+

Piranha 3D (2010)
8/10
Combine all the gore and randy teens from every 80's horror movie add water...
20 August 2010
and you got Piranha 3D. I went into this movie knowing that it is going to have a b-movie feel. Though I wasn't expecting how awesome the CGI melds with the awesome makeup gore effects nor was I not expecting how FUN this movie is. The movie really holds on to it's campy feel and goes all out. You really should see this movie in 3D to get the full cheese drive-in movie feel. The movie is just one murder set piece after another and does it well. There is great comedy too and the movie never takes itself seriously and has a light tone. I was laughing throughout- It's gross out with little spook here and there .Trust me after seeing Piranha 3D You'll almost feel that they turned flesh ripping and breast shaking 3D into an art form.

Weeds (2005–2012)

Dark, disturbing but whole lot of heart and funny!
20 January 2010
Weeds is a show that always manages to surprise me each season. Now on Season 5 the show just gets better. It's characters are bright and realistically three dimensional. I was a little weary after the 3rd season since I grown so accustomed to "little boxes". For me, that was weeds and the suburbia aspect made it all the more satirical. But thanks to such great writers and the amazing talent of people like Mary Louise Parker the show doesn't burn out into it's new settings it flourishes! I've seen these characters grow and do horrible things to each other. Their morals may be skewered and though Dark disturbing their actions their heart manages to stay intact.

A Guilty Pleasure movie
18 January 2010
After reading many bad reviews about the Lovely Bones I was weary of seeing it. First off, I never read Alice Shebold's masterpiece what-so-ever, so I came into the movie knowing A:It's about a Girl named Salmon and B: She goes to some funkadelic Acid Heaven cause she was murdered. And C: I'll be bombarded with pointless CGI-gasm from a fat-now-skinny director Peter Jackson.

So, How was the movie? I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed The Lovely Bones a lot. So much so that I was wondering, what's all the fuss with the critics? Of course the critics probably read the book and guess what- Some Book-to-Movie adaptations will NOT be as you please.Of Course the movie did have some really corny CGI moments but all in all the movie never loss it's dark comedic fast paste tone which the director stated; it's how he thought of the book in the first place. For those people who said that the movie didn't take it's subject matter of rape and murder seriously- I thought it did. Mr. Harvey is one creepy guy and hats off to Stanley (his Golden Globe Nod was nice.)

In the end, the movie did have a lot of flaws, but those flaws is what made me enjoy the movie(from a Idintreaddabook perspective). more than what others are saying. Come on it's not That bad. Hey Critics, this could be another twilight movie.... where we can hate it but at the same time can be a guilty guilty pleasure (secretively). And The Lovely Bones is that (for me at least).

B+
