Small Crimes (2017)
Pointless
The film seems to be building something from the beginning only to come to a confusing pointless end. It doesn't make any sense. Loving parents, by the way. Cheers for not getting all that time back. Too bad the cast, the performances and the technique used to film it had a high standard, although the screenplay is bad. Seems like it has been written by a schizo who got bored at the end.
Van Helsing (2016)
Wasting time
The pace of the events on this show is really slow. It leaves the viewer after each episode with the impression that it took too long and not much really happened in it, considering it takes up to 50 minutes for each.
The fighting sequences are unprofessional and the camera angles can emphasize how they lack seeming genuine.
The dialogues are long and seem to stretch the obvious while in some cases become repetitive. The actors could prove to be better than this, however the script is far from being helpful here.
Other low budget productions have done better with less. I suggest less episodes with more events taking place in order to conclude the story line for each season, if it is going to make it that far.
Until then, people watching this should either find a great deal of patience or do something else with their time.
Big screen or small, this world is a passion of mine that I would love to be part of one day, hence it makes me feel disappointed when themes such as this fail to meet a decent standard, while at the same time promising projects are rejected from the beginning or lack resources for an independent production.
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
How to turn a legendary name into dust (or is it sand)?
The trilogy was amazing and Thunderdome was a masterpiece compared to this one.
Nothing in it is memorable, characters are not developed at all, they just exist. The universe is stale and absurdly useless. Defies logic in a numbing manner. Mostly action. Low quality one. And what a shocker: certain secondary good characters die in stupid ways. Felt like they had more depth than the main ones. Hardy was on crack vacation. Charlize has faded and I do not want to see her again.
There is also a forced scene of emotional garbage when the music tried to make the viewer (more like targeting retarded audience) feel some empathy. It achieved the exact opposite. Apathy. Boredom. Disgust. Insult. Thankfully, it partially erased this moment with the next action moments. Or did it?
By the end of it you wish you did not waste so much life time on this film. Explosions and sand and some driving and... I already forgot. If you want to see Max then remember Mel Gibson in any or all those three performances. Otherwise you do not miss a thing. Trust me, the promo is all you'll ever need.
