Blacktop (2000)
Duel + Breakdown + Black Dog = BlackTop
Duel + Breakdown + Joy Ride + Black Dog = BlackTop
Of course mostly bad elements of Duel, Breakdown and dare I say it Black Dog.
MeatLoaf is overacting, otherwise I would commend him for a job well done.
Lots of teasing, but no actual nudity. This is the kind of film you watch at 430 AM drunk. Suspend logic, disbelief and "Why doesn't he/she just do x, y or z." and you will be fine.
Check out the others first, especially Duel.
Thanks.

Circumcision -- Spoilers
My film class instructor tells me that I shouldn't focus too much on the circumcision aspects of this film in my comments on here and I am limited to 1000 words here. However at least one quarter of the film has to do with circumcision related issues so it deserves mention.
A large part of this film shows propoganda and teaching / brainwashing is most effective on the young. If they can mold minds while developing they can produce more obedient subjects. This was the function and duty of the Kosmonol which is demonstrated by some students actively volunteering to denounce their religions and being bribed with 'candies from heaven'. This is further demonstrated by the way the Hitler Youth are controlled, even in their eating habits "knife in right, fork in left".
There are a lot of symbolic, humorous and ironic scenes in this war drama, which give it a nice flow and at times provide comic relief. I found the sex scene in the train between Solly / Josef and Frau UberNazi an especially funny twist.
This movie also made fun of the Nazi's. The gay soldier who was Jupp's friend; Leni's pregnancy as a gift to the Fuhrer and the cranial measuring systems they used and believed as well.
Ellen (1994)
Ok Show, Went Downhill.
I liked this show when it was called These Friends of Mine. Even for awhile when it became Ellen. I have no problem with lesbians, but when the focus started shifting -- from standard characters or even to slight lesbian focus (still ok) -- to a show simply about lesbians and nothing else it sucked.
Even gay people at work with agree with this. The show simply stopped being a comedy or sit-com and became a half hour of just boredom about lesbians.
Shows with a plot, jokes and homosexual characters are fine. When the show simply becomes 30 minutes of "hey America, I'm a lesbian" it gets boring, fast.

Refreshing
The way in which this is presented is refreshing. Often when one dislikes the way a story unfolds it affects their opinion of the film. Here you have three options. One of the three scenarios is bound to please.
Genco, that's 4. Yee haw!
Die Ehe der Maria Braun (1979)
Fantastic - spoilers
What a great ending. Did she do it on purpose or was it an accident -- that was the question for the boys and girls in my German Film Class.
Ausgezeichnet.
Genco, this makes 3.
M - Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder (1931)
Schraenker is cool.
This movie was excellent. I recommend it greatly over the Americanized 1950s remake with Raymond Burr.
Schraenker is cool. Take some time and watch this movie. This is Fritz Lang's first talkie and the film that made it all happen for Peter Lorre. It is rated #49 of the top 250 movies of all time, based on votes to IMDb.com
Genco, I'm 2/3 now.
Paris, Texas (1984)
Thankful for Ry Cooder
This movie was miserable. The dialogue was too much, the film was too long, nothing much happened. Harry Dean Stanton and Kinski are not believable as a couple, being that she would have been in her early 20s at the time of filming and Stanton would have been 58 years old.
Remember critics always give awards to bad films. The English Patient got 8 of them.
This post is required for a class about film. Hope you see it, Herr Genco.
