Very Inspiring Film! Must See
28 November 2009
I just came home from the movies and had a really enjoyable time! What a wonderfully, Inspiring film, "The Blind Side" is YOU MUST SEE IT! Definitely Sandra Bullock's best work in awhile and Quinton Aaron is outstanding 'new find"as well Both should be Oscar nominated The whole cast was outstanding Tim McGraw ,Kathy Bates, (as always) and young Jae Head, what a fine young actor best since young Ricky Schroeder.. Its such an inspiring ,moving film... and since I'm not a sports enthusiast did not know till the end that it is based on a true story ! I was moved, mesmerized, never looked at my watch and loved and relished every minute of it Sandra Bullock though looks a bit like Kathy Lee Gifford (with a twang) in this one gives an outstanding performance..Shes been wasted in so many films Shes a fine actress and Tim McGraw is perfect as her husband but Quinton Aaron is amazing Oscar nominations please for both Bulluck and Aaron !!Go see you will not be disappointed

Very Good Adult TV Movie.. Ashton Kutcher Excellent
22 November 2009
I usually don't watch Lifetime movies but it was a rare Saturday Night that i was home.. nothing else was on...the tube... Turned to Lifetime and saw an original TV film with Michelle Pfeifer was about to begin.."Personal Effects" The minute it stated I was hoooked... Love Michelle Pfeifer and she was excellent in the role of a somewhat older woman who falls for (through various circumstances) a younger man, played by Aston Kutcher ..now I've heard of him but had never (i thought seen him act ) Not only is he good looking and a"hunk" but he can really act he played the part of a confused somewhat depressed young man so well..I felt so sympathetic towards him ..Excellent performance know now, thanks to IMDb.that he's married to Demi Moore, and I did see him in "Bobby" and possibly the "70's Show". He was wonderful as was Michelle and the entire cast including Kathy Bates in another unbelievably good performance as "Kutcher's mom . Very adult quite graphic ,a bit violent but very well done and well acted.. The plot has a few implausabilities and was a bit confusing but stick with it... One of the best made for TV films I've seen in awhile Shown on the Lifetime Network

Precious (II) (2009)

Powerful but depressing film! Great Performances
21 November 2009
Just came home from the theater saw "Precious" what a film" so real so honest so true to life..Powerful stuff that unfortunately "white America doesn't know much about".... I was so moved I cried... several times What performances esp. by Gabourey Sidibe as "Precious", and Mo'Nique as her mom..They should be Oscar nominated this year But the entire cast was wonderful ..couldn't believe that was Mariah Carey as Mr. Weiss excellent too as was Lenny Kravitz and all. I was a teacher in an "alternative school" in Newark NJ and couldn't believe the nightmare stories I heard there in my 6 years at that school... Also heard similar stories in my previous 27 years in a non alternative school A Junior High School also in Newark..These kids had problems and we had to be compassionate but we also wanted to teach..and guess what? most of these inner city students really wanted to learn but the problems they faced at home etc..well, caused problems and at times interrupted and conflicted with the educational process. I taught students who were formerly incarcerated from everything to robbing cars, to attempted murder!! I had young girls, Like Precious who were raped by a family member (father, uncle cousin) etc... Very common in black society but also in most cultures as well. I pushed on to teach them some science I would reward them with every positive attempt and effort... and help them in any way I could without overstepping my bounds.. If I suspected something ,unlike Ms. Rain ,Id have to refer suspected problems to the nurse or guidance staff...they handled the truly personal problems But it was a rewarding experience...and this film is so well done so accurate BRAVO to the entire cast crew ,director, producers and all ! ITS ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT FILMS EVER MADE!!! I rated a 9 instead of a 10 because it did depress me quite a bit & bought back some horrible stories about my students in Newark NJ who really deserve better and shouldn't be receiving the negative "raps" that they are from late night comics like Lettermen & now Leno. Newark,NJ where I was born is a city that is truly making great strides to improve itself..The mayor, Corey Booker has his hands full but he's well qualified and equipped...Thanks for listening!
