Wednesday (2022)
An excellent replacement for stranger things!
The first season of "Wednesday" was absolutely nail-biting. The great screenplay and incredible casting made it one of the best TV shows I've ever watched. Every episode left me on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next. The characters were well-developed and the plot twists were unexpected but well-executed.
Though the story line is quite different from the cartoons people have grown watching and are used to; it is easy to follow.
With "stranger things" penultimate season coming next year, "Wednesday" would be a great replacement for Netflix.
Overall, it was a thrilling and satisfying viewing experience.
Bodyguard (2018)
Brilliant story and execution
This is a thriller like never before. You are engrossed in the story from the very beginning. As the story moves on, you are taken on a ride where nothing makes much sense to you as well as to the protagonist. You are watching the incident unfold before your eyes. The direction makes you see with the eyes of the bodyguard.
Richard madden is amazing in this series. He really looks suave and made for this role. Probably, this should give him a chance to be the next James bond.
Hasmukh (2020)
Great premise, but executed badly
The show manages to keep your attention for 2 episodes and then just falls flat. It becomes repetitive with no new humour. Stand up jokes portrayed in the show are not funny.
I believe this would have been a great movie rather than a web-series.
Joker (2019)
Great culmination for months long wait post the trailer
The first trailer of joker has piqued my interest in the movie. Easily one of the best trailer ever.
The movie absolutely satisfied all expectations i had with it. The acting, direction and the writing were exceedingly good. The background score played an intricate part in the story telling.
This is surely going to win a couple of Oscars. If you're undecided about watching it;go ahead if you don't mind story telling that focuses on the darkness. If you're expecting the usual cgi ridden fight sequences with cheesy humor and dialouges, then this movie is not for you.
Hotel Transylvania (2012)
Fun movie to watch
It's a nice movie with great story line. Not great. Not bad. Kids would love this movie.
The actors who have given their voice have done a great job.
Really good comedy in the movie which is not childish, which makes it a good movie for adults as well.
Game of Thrones (2011)
Wish I could score it higher than 10
Game of Thrones challenges the viewers to watch and develop the taste to enjoy it for first 3-5 episodes. It is not because it is bad; it's just that most of us are used to watching shows and movies with linear story lines. You will truly enjoy it once you get the hang of the character names and their relation to one and another.
The production quality with attention to details is amazing, similar to Peter Jackson's LOTR. The dialogues, the acting especially by the child actors are commendable.
The CGI improves as the season progresses due to better budget and technology. The first four seasons I would say are the best till now(season 7) when you look at only through the perspective of political gamesmanship.
The show later on becomes more linear as story lines show signs of merging. Season 5 and 6 have beautifully shot action sequences laced with incredible background score and decent story. Ramdin Djawadi is truly a musical genius.
I would consider Season 7 to be weakest of them all. Make no mistake, it is still better than all other shows out there, but pales in comparison to the previous seasons. I disliked the fact that great conversation and dialogues that is an intricate part of GOT was missing in this season. You can't blame the show-runners as George RR Martin who is the best in crafting them hasn't written the book yet.
Eagerly waiting for the Season 8. From the trailers it seems to be filled with mammoth battles and fates of several characters will be decided.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Incredible storyline
Usually series/sequel after a period of time based on a popular movie are bleh. But not this show. It is hooks you up instantly in the first 5 minutes itself. The characters are amazingly portrayed with great writing of scenes. The fight and the aggression doesn't seem forced and have a natural flow between the plot lines.
As this is a comedy drama, even with so much going on dramatization front, there are humorous elements in almost every other scenes. The actors have done a great job in those regards.
Elementary: Through the Fog (2018)
Finally a great episode
Elementary series has its ups and downs. This season until now was not up to the mark when compared with previous seasons. However, this episode changes it.
Fantastic story telling and great suspense throughout the episode. Hope, future episodes are just as good.
Inception (2010)
Nolan at his best
It is one of the best movies. Oh yeah, then I remind myself of The Dark Knight. I chose to give Inception 9/ 10 because giving it 10/10 will be equating it with The Dark Knight.
Nolan's movies aren't for those with low concentration power. You need to be in the movie in order to keep pace with story. It is almost like studying for an exam. And this one is the toughest of them all.
The best thing apart from good acting from all those involved is great script. It does not give you any chance to sit back and relax. You are pulled inside the movie. The pace at which the movie goes is enjoyable to watch.
The important fact about this movie is that there is no stand out character like the Joker. Each character has been given equal importance and as a whole have done a splendid job.
Christopher Nolan has taken great risk in making this movie. He is banking upon the audiences to be intelligent enough to enjoy the movie. You might hear reviews from friends saying that the movie is crap, I heard it myself, but let me tell you that it is a must watch. If you are the kind of movie buff who likes to see movie as an art and not just for actors and actions and other secondary things.
If you are going to watch this movie make sure you go when you have nothing on your mind because you will need to focus on the movie.
Knight and Day (2010)
Good watch if you want to see good acting
Knight and Day is a watchable movie. Its lead pair have delivered an outstanding performance. What I liked about the movie is the spontaneous acting of Cameroon Diaz as she uncovers the dangers that lie in front of her and how Tom Cruise pragmatically tries and successfully convinces her that all is well. It looked all so real. Not like most movies where you would feel how a character would believe other in such circumstances. Tom cruise plays smooth talker spy. And Diaz is an intelligent blonde who is swayed by his talks.
There is isn't much in the story line and the direction is average. Action sequences are good though. You wouldn't get bored one bit while watching it. There is lot of humor in it especially while the lead pair have conversation with each other. They compliment each other perfectly.
Watch it if you want to see a light hearted action-comedy film with damn good acting. You would also like the locales around the world where the movie is shot.
