The Chestnut Man (2021– )

Missing critical elements from the book
15 October 2021
The series is good, but lost some critical elements of the book. Surprising because there was plenty of time to work in more in depth backstories. The lead actors were unnecessarily dry. If only the other actors had the same depth of emotion that Ebsen Andersen had, would have been an excellent watch.

Magnificent

Truly superb writing, casting, acting, direction and editing. This show is a work of art. If you can, please watch in a quiet, intimate setting to truly appreciate the elegant horror being served. I have never been as impressed with a series as I am with this one. It's very surprising that a show this dark was on network television, I can't see the NBC viewer appreciating such darkness. I'm preparing for a second viewing of all the seasons. It was perfection to the very end.

Must watch and decide for yourself
10 January 2020
I'll be honest and say I eye rolled through the first 15 minutes of the first episode . I came back to it the next day and I was captivated. This a beautifully shot and emotionally engaging series. I watched on my iPad during my morning and evening commute. The score and sound effects through headphones and watching in a setting where you can focus allows you to notice all of the nuances and appreciate the moments of humor. The acting by all is awesome, I have a new appreciation for Jason Momoa, beyond his mouth watering looks lol and Christian Camargo as the character Tamacti Jun is my new crush. Watch and decide for yourself.

Superb

Get your tissues ready. Superb acting, heart wrenching story and perfectly casted. The sadness lingers after the movie is over. I had to check the year of this film because it was a shock not to see any nominations or award wins listed, that is a complete travesty. I hope the cast and crew understand what a gem they made.

Great show

Just found this gem of a show today. Great acting, really great characters, great story/plot. So, so sad it has not been renewed for a second season. I hope someone rethinks that decision, great TV shows like this are hard to find.

Booger sugar
2 July 2018
I don't want to ruin it for anyone by giving spoilers, but the last episode dialogue had me on the floor, especially the reference to booger sugar by Happy. I cannot wait for season two of this show!! It can be vulgar and very graphic but it's smart, witty, twisted and crazy. One of the best shows in recent years. I came across this show totally by accident it's binge worthy and can't wait for more of it to come.

Poignant, sad, thought provoking and so much more
6 March 2017
This is one of the deepest, most thought provoking and tear enducing shows on television. With news of the this being the last season, I had to start the series over to re-immerse myself in each impeccably rendered episode. This show is so perfectly casted, down to the smallest role. Produced by the team who brought us Breaking Bad, this show is a gem and will be missed. Why oh why did they pull the plug so early.

Stoker (2013)

Phenomenal

Phenomenal. The subtlety hits you like a ton of bricks by the time the credits start to roll. What a wonderful performance by the young leading lady. Can't say enough...just see this film.

A gorgeous, twisted, hypnotic trance of a film - it's meant for an audience not overly concrete in it's thinking but who have an open imagination and are able to take the plunge into the dark vision of Chan Wook-Park. The three principle actors are superb but Mia Wasikowska really gives the film a beating heart, as her character, India Stoker, emerges from her innocence into her latent self, her true nature. This movie is filled with images that are as disturbing as they are lyrical and open to endless interpretation. I've seen the movie three times in theaters and find that my impressions change with each viewing and that it has really haunted my imagination. "Stoker" is one of those unique and mysterious masterpieces that I'm sure I'll be returning to frequently over the years - it's as beautiful and poetic as it's nasty and sick. This is fantastic film making.

Amber (2014)

Excellent show
1 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Excellent, well acted drama out of Ireland. Reminded me of the series "The Killing" here in the States. The focus of the story is the missing girl, Amber, and gives viewers several points of view on the event. Story is a bit disjointed at times but that can be overlooked. I do wish the finale was a bit more final since a second season is not guaranteed. I've searched for additional details on the net to help me solve the mystery on my own. It's good enough to where I will wind up watching it a second time. I do hope this series gains enough viewer ship and attention so that a second season is warranted. Please give us a second season and closure!
