Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2020)
Borat abused the trust of Jeanise Jones
Lied to her to take part in a "Documentary" and massively underpaid her.
Question Time: Episode dated 16 January 2020 (2020)
Laurence Fox - an absolute gem
I don't know who at the BBC HQ had the idea of including Laurence Fox here, but he should be promoted for it.
Laurence Fox is a lone voice crying for truth, reason, and compassion in a panel made up of vile tribal politicians facing a crowd infused with actual racialists casually accusing everyone else of racism
In short Laurence Fox deserves at least a Knighthood for this magnitude of public service to Great Britain and the British people.
Bill Nye, the Science Guy: Probability (1996)
The Ministry of the Non-Binary has struck...
... in the not too distant future of 2017 Bill Nye in collaboration with Netflix(TM) will remove the scene where Amy Broder explains how there's only 2 sexes/genders. For shame, going back through old movies and photos to redact scenes and people that are "inconvenient" is the tactics of totalitarian regimes and their mental allies.
Danmarksfilmen (1935)
Interesting film of danish history
This movie was made in 1935 to show Denmark and danish society to the world in general. How Danes lived & worked at the time of this film is documented in pictures. The intention was to capture the everyday situations in Denmark and as such it presents a very interesting view of Denmark, as seen by Poul Henningsen. The viewer is taken on several "tours" through the danish agricultural production, following the milk and swine through the countryside to the dairy and the butchery, ending with danish butter and pork-sides being shipped out for export. Also the growing industrialization of Denmark is shown, with cement-factories as a prime example.
This movie no doubt show how Denmark saw it self in 1935, but it is definitely an interesting historic document.
Den ægte vare: Live i Cirkusbygningen (2002)
Danish stand-up comedy the way it should be done
A presentation of 5 danish stand-up comedians done the classical way, no singing or any other pointless fillers.
The acts are good, yet short enough so you do not tire from listening to the same comedian.
In my opinion this is a fine presentation of stand-up comedy done in a classical way.
4 of the acts and the host provide fine samples of comedy, yet one of the acts I just don't get, but that's humor for you ...
In any event I hope you enjoy this one too.
I give this an 8/10.
Sud sanaeha (2002)
Boring, pretentious and ... slow
I saw this movie at the NatFilm festival (Nightly Movies Festival) in Copenhagen, and it was a huge disappointment. I found the movie virtually void of a story and hopelessly over-stretched. The only reason I have not used profanity here are the IMDb guidelines, the movie is THAT bad.
On a more cheerful note: Most of the cinema-goers that evening managed to sleep some time during the movie (myself included), so after the movie people were well rested. Considering the usual cinema-goers at that festival it is quite an achievement.
I rate this a 1 out of 10. (Because it is impossible to cast a lower vote)
Jan Gintberg: Op på fars Jihad (2003)
The show should have stopped with the warm-up ...
My only advice to any prospective viewers is to turn off after Omar Marzouk has delivered his warm-up.
Sadly the rest of the show consists of lavatory-style jokes ... It is really sad because I have seen Jan Gintberg do a lot of good comedy, but this show is not in any way up to his usual standards. If they had kept the form from the warm-up I would have given it an 8 or maybe a 9. Considering that, I think my rating says a lot about (my opinion of) the rest of the show.
2/10.
By the way: Feel free to disagree, after all: Humor is a very strange fish.
Ikiru (1952)
A truly amazing story. (Spoiler warning hereby given!)
The portrayal is absolutely superb by the actors under Kurosawa's direction. Relative to movies of the 1980's and 1990's the pace of the story is relaxed, or even sedate, but it truly fits the serious nature of the story being told. Furthermore the movie provides a rare peek into the japanese society and its workings.
(Spoiler) This is a truly amazing story of a city clerk's reaction to the fact that he is told he is about to die. In short he tries to accomplish some good before his passing, and thus faces the system, that he was so much a part of whilst unaware of his own mortality.
