The League of Gentlemen: Live at Drury Lane (2001)
Extremely hilarious, The League of Gentlemen live surprised me :)
This is a DVD/Video for any League fan. Strange scenes, twisted and dark... this is The League of Gentlemen Live.
The best thing about this show is that the actors do not dress up (well they do for some scenes but for most they do not bother), and it makes no difference due to their brilliant acting skills. The facial expressions make what the character is in this show.
The guys did a brilliant show here, it must have taken alot of practice doing sketch after sketch after sketch.
You see a variety of your basic League sketches (Papa Lazerou, Go Johnny Go Go Go, Pauline and Kathy Carter Smith, Tubbs and Edward) along with your new sketches that were made specifically for the Live show (Les McQueen performing his new hit single "Tie Wakka Wakka Pumpkin Face" from his album "Moods", The "Fag Hag" Tish, and Legz Akimbo's performance of the play "Scumbellina" - a play about a young girl living in the north).
A great laugh, but only really for the League Fan.
Cradle of Fear (2001)
A cheap, low budget horror film with tacky actors - what more could you want? :)
Cradle of Fear is funny to watch even though it's not meant to be amusing. The acting is terrible and the special gore effects look absolutely fake... but this is what kept me hooked.
Dani Filth from the death metal band Cradle of Filth also stars in it as "The Man" who goes around killing people in a variety of amusing and interesting ways.
"The Man" is being controlled by his dad, Kemper, who lives in a Mental Asylum for abusing little girls after hypnotising them. Kemper gets his son to kill all the sons and daughters of the people who got him locked up basically.
This film is a mixture of spoofs from other films. You have a spoof of "The Crow" at the beginning, with Dani Filth striding down an alleyway... You have an "Alien" spoof where this monster gets implanted within this girls body and bursts out of her stomach...
Basically, a great film to watch when drunk, and with a few mates.
Ice Angel (2000)
Nice and easy to watch, a good afternoon time consumer.
I saw this movie on Channel 5 while flicking through to see what was on, and normally, if a program is absolutly terrible I'll get up and leave to do something more productive rather than sit there and suffer.
This film kept me seated though. I found it slightly hilarious and it had a pretty funny plotline which kept me captivated for the length of the film.
A little bit cheesy, yes, but it was entertaining. I gave it a 9 out of ten for a nice afternoon movie that didn't make me cringe with boredom or cheesed off with rubbish jokes.
A nice little film with good acting by Nicholle Tom.
