Barrie Barista en het einde der tijden (2020)
Rude, violent and aims to upset! Yet so damn funny!
This series is in Dutch language.
Henry van Loon is quite his own character in this series, and that's just fine.
People from the, all but destroyed, neighborhood come in to get a cup of coffee.
Meanwhile they take their own problems with them, and they sure don't shy away to make it his problem. Barrie tries to make the world better with extra treats or presents he serves with the coffee.
The visitors insult, rape, kill and destroy in a friendly gesture, all with a big wink off course. I loved every minute.. can't wait for season 2...
Close (2019)
No right flow
This movie lacks flow. It does not grab you from beginning to end. Music is a series of suspense tracks followed by another dull sound scheme. I finished watching it.. Barely..
Skybound (2017)
Don't bother - this review had more budget and suspense
Where do I start... ? Bad acting, stupid plot-twists... it just sucked from start to end.
Low budget is no excuse! This is clearly an attempt to lure actors to a studio so producers could molest them, and then release this piece of crap to hide the fact..
Do not waste your money on this.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Worst Star Wars yet
Although the graphics are interesting, the story line is all over the place, and even then thin.
It was completely done when one of the main characters started kissing in the middle of a action scene. It was totally unbelievable. It could have done with 45 minutes less..
And trust me, I love all the other Star Wars movies.. just disappointed..
The Grand Tour (2016)
From carefully-rude English to flat-out American, The humor is scripted and predictable
I would have thought that when the three well known gentleman would have a seemingly unlimited budget, they would not invest it in pyrotechnics and bad jokes only. As I Always felt as they tried to push the limits at Top Gear, trying to avoid the rules by bending them just to make it work was funny. In the Grand Tour it seems there are no limits, and they ruined it by scripting it to death. Every week a famous person dies (or more than one) and although that is likely because they are not allowed to use the same format as Top Gear, and just have to kill them before they can do anything on the show, it is killed by James May asking: So he's not coming on then? Where Richard is then explaining what we just have seen happening... it's breaks the joke.. The show is funny, but you'd expect it to be more.. The specials in the show are completely absurd and over the top... to scripted... And thus, not a challenge at all. You can see a lot of money went into them, but it's just to much, and the presenters are not really challenged at all. This is what made it fun in the past, it was off course also scripted and planned, but not so obvious.. I hope they change it in the future.. I think they can do better! I miss them sparring with authority I guess..
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
It might just be me, but I was disappointed.. big time
I really don't get this movie... to better explain, I need to add some spoilers, but I need to do it, if only just to warn you.
All people like the movie, but just because they like the actors, not sure if that is a valid reason to like the movie.. Don't get me wrong, it was not their performance that spoiled it for me. Also the special effects are amazing, and the sound rocks you in your chair... loved that. But that immediately explains where most of the budget went too: the actors and the SFX..
The story is about Lex Luthor (the crazy person, psychotic to the bone) that sets up Batman against Superman, by making him the bad guy. The people swallow it and condemn Superman with only Lois hesitating. The first 2 hours is about building the intense hate of batman towards Superman, and in an epic climax they have it off. Superman's mom is captured by Lex, and he has to kill Batman otherwise Lex will kill Martha (Supermans earth-mom) , now they really at each other, pounding, wounding and Batman is really mad. It the moment Batman can deliver the final blow to Superman he finds out about Martha.. and within 2 seconds his hate is gone: why you ask? Because his mom was named Martha too... Really? 2 hours build up to that??? Come on... that's it... and all of the sudden Lex has a back-up plan, he had another kryptionian bastard on ice, and added some gene manipulation making it the ultimate monster. And they both fight the monster... I won't spoil who gets killed in the end, besides the monster, but the world is in agony, and they spend 20 minutes of the bloody movie showing us... Really, watch it on DVD/blu ray some time, when you are really bored.. but only if you are really, really bored.
My mom passed away last year, and although I loved her, this evening was worse... Just my opinion, see what you do with it.. 3 out of 20 stars, for the special effects and great sound.
V/H/S (2012)
Not very bad, but not good either..
On the plus side most characters are convincing and believable.
They idea of finding tapes, and putting them together to make a movie out of it, is appealing. But I would have liked it more if they created a story where a reporter would have used the footage to explore and then reach a climax. This just is to incoherent, not that much flow from tape to tape.. Also I lost the time line, left me rather confused.
Maybe I like it bit more in Hollywood style, but anyway.. that's how I see it.
Loved the explicit scenes though, true horror style.. you see not everything, but more than enough to creep you out sometimes..
To vague for me.. but I did watch until the end...
