Shutter Island (2010)
Highly engaging...Another feather in Scorsese's hat
In a thriller genre movies, many a times what you expect the celluloid show is not the same and when it is the same, you'll feel cheated and disappointed. But I can assure one thing that Shutter Island won't give you either of those feels as it has enough twist in its tale to make you jump off your chair. I entered shutter island lousily lying on my bed but as the movie proceeded, the pace kicked off, my body postures also changed and at the brink of the climax, there I was; sitting at the edge of my chair, holding my breathe(I know this is getting too melodramatic) and felt like asking Mr.Scorsese-"How many more twists and surprises"
"Mindboggling" may be an apt title if only such word ever exists...Thank you and have a nice viewing
Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008)
Superchor...!!!
One of my all time favorite Hindi movies...May be because of its freshness, coolness, acting, direction...Well whatever may be the reason but its an amazing movie experience and a cult status deserving movie. OLLO has its own way of narrating story ...very different of what we are habituated of viewing in Indian cinema.
Abhay Deol fit the role of cool and calm thief to T. I would say that he's the best Deol of our country. Songs are so much the part of the movie that you never realize that a song came and gone. This movie is a good indication of progressive Indian cinema. Hats off to Dibakar Banerjee
Field of Dreams (1989)
Absurdity at its best and is in fact Inspirational
While I was watching this movie, there were several occasions when I told myself....What the hell is going on? This is untrue, its absurd etc etc....but at the end it still is beautiful...Is in't? Lets see Hearing voices, that too only by a particular fellow, putting his everything on stake on those voice and then again hearing some more voices....Sound strange or rather fittingly stupid. But thats the beauty of this cinema where dreams are the driving forces of a person's life. And if you believe in god,if you believe in miracles then you can break the logical cage and enter the world of impracticalities which is far more superior than the real bitchy world....Sounds like an escapist point of view...May be but for me being a avid dreamer this movie is not only special and entertaining but to an extent inspirational for it reminds me that "DREAMS DO COMES TRUE....its a matter of seeing them" I would just say, just give a watch....and enjoy
Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Good...but definitely not worthy to be placed in IMDb Top 250
IMDb rating 8.4(Way too high...pull it down, fellas) and thats not all ranked #90 in all time best list(kick 'em off out of 200) Inglorious bast**ds...whatever we may spell is a good entertainer but thats all it is...A good straight forward entertaining hypothetical drama set up in WWII. It starts off with a bang during the interrogation by Christopher Waltz but consistently keep on losing its way. Brat Pitt has given the career worst performance.Am I the only one who thinks so or others are with me on this. But on the contrary, Waltz is amazing as Colonel Hans Landa and I guess has won one of the most deserving Oscars in the history. If I've to rate the movie in parts having Waltz, I would go for a nine pointer and for those with Pitt and co., 5 point someone at best. This is the real problem of the movie, Its good maybe great but only in patches...There are purple patches only to be followed by equally long lean patches. What I expect from a high rated movie is that it allow me to participate in it,let me think and not haughtily show whatever they want. But here in the end I am left like a dumb...Hitler attended a movie premiere with a tight security of 2 GUARDS...Unreal man.... Over dramatic climax has shattered the innovative approach of the movie....All I would say is don't go by the rating and do the favour of bringing the movie in its correct position. So just see and VOTE.....
Sharaabi (1984)
The Deadly duo of Prakash Mehra and Amitabh Bachchan
Now this is a combination that has been responsible for giving many memorable movies to the Indian cinema...And Sharaabi is a gem of a cinema from the so called "Golden period of Indian cinema" 26 years down the line, the movie is far more intriguing, entertaining and relevant than the modern era Blockbuster movies of bollywood. Its a kind of movie which can please each and everyone. Comedy, drama, action, music, acting, emotion and whatever you would seek for are all properly embedded in a nicely written plot. Amitabh Bachchan has given a towering performance and he is the best we have around and the witty one liners and shayaris are also doing no harm to his presence. Om prakash as Munshiji is good and you will feel for his death in the movie. But the lack of subtlety in his character works against him. Jaya Prada is beautiful and that all I've to say for her. Pran may seem to be too harsh but its all for making the contrast when he's transformed.
Much said It would be better if you Catch this movie and then evaluate this reviews.
Guzaarish (2010)
One word....MAGICAL!!!
WoW...Couldn't believe, It was watching an Indian movie. Hrithik is back with a bang, so is Bhansali after Debacles with Kites an Saawariyaa respectively. Aishwarya is as usual stunning. Aditya Roy Kapoor is somewhat irritating but Shernaaz Patel(Devyani) in her small role is impressive. Whole movie is an amazing experience. I guess after many super heroic characters of Hrithik, Ethan Mascarenhas is a real superhero. Its amazing to watch him act, considering the constraint that he is allowed to move his neck only and nothing else. Here expressions were important and Hrithik made them splendidly brilliant...It doesn't matter to me, if its a copy of any movie or not. It was a wonderful experience. Ethan's characteristic laugh in the movie has the same positive effect as it was through "Jaadu ki Jhappi" in Munnabhai MBBS. As I was writing this review, I heard that the movie had got low box office start, I personally would be very disappointed, if this movie fails because it was different, it was pleasing, it was amazing experience, it was like a scotch whisky...smooth and slowly, gradually captivating...Aishwarya was fab in Udi song...and I don't know if am getting curried away but I have every possible right be get carried away by this masterpiece because I am not a paid critic reviewer who write his mind out...here i can say what I felt...and final words...PLEASE DON'T MISS THIS ONE...GO WATCH IN THEATRE ONLY, ITS WORTH YOUR BUCKS!!!
Dabangg (2010)
Its not a movie...but is enjoyable
First of all Dabangg is not a movie but merely a collection of a power pack action sequences and dialouges, supported by good background music. There is nothing new in the movie...Also no story but Salman is brilliant as Chulbul Pandey. His dialouge delivery (no matter , how silly it is) keeps you laughing. Arbaaz Khan should not act, Sonu Sood is OK but definitely the villains shud be more powerful. I wud say Sonakshi, Mahie Gill and Malaika, all are having special appearance....and Malaika steals the show. All stunts are copied from many sources. So as they say "Copy from one book called Plagiarism and copy from many books, its research". The way Chulbul Pandey hides his tears behind RayBAn is very nice...and all that hype about the movie is FALSE...it is not at all a must watch but still watching one time, won't hurt either.
