Atomic Dog (1998)
I think the very negative reviewers above must have seen a different movie than this
Okay first things first & that is this is a movie not an Animal Planet documentary so it will do as all movies should & that is suspend belief but this does not ask you to suspend it to stupidity levels like any of the Shark Attack munch munch naked women about to get made into shark food do. The movie does slightly mislead you from the poster as you are expecting some sort of super power dog when this starts with a man (cleaner I think) & his puppy who are at the Nuclear power plant when it suffers a LOW LEVEL I will repeat this a LOW LEVEL leak & the plant is immediately shut down & all staff removed including the cleaner who is refused allowance to go get his pup (admittedly you would have thought he would have sneaked back in & got him but nope he does not). Move on a year & you have a family new to the area comprising of dad (an inventor of gadgets, mum (a writer of children s books),teenage son (& no just a normal teen not a troubled one) & lastly but not lastly a daughter (this bit really says a lot about the people who wrote the description as they say about the son being the main character where as to me it is the daughter) & the family Labrador bitch. The son is going out with some of the towns boys for the evening & the dog goes with them & they end up at the abandoned power plant where one of the son's new friends decides to take out his .22 rifle & shoot at the exterior lighting where upon they see the pup (but he is now a full grown dog) & being a fool shoots at the dog so the dog runs off & this friend decides to trespass onto the site. The film is not a horror & does not have anything that would make me think unsuitable for older children (10 plus)so I would say give it a try.
Wolf Lake (2001)
Missed it first time, caught it second time & the show I realize was canceled CBS you suck
SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT I do not know what it is with Networks as they seem to only want to spill out cheap, reality TV shows that cost next to nothing to make & have absolute idiots on it (Big Brother anyone). I watched most of this when it premiered in the States where I was living at the time & then found it being re run now recently now as I had missed the last 4 shows (UPS picked up these to air)I was quiet happy as I knew I would see how it ended but nope what I viewed instead was incomplete with the last episode ending without nothing resolved but worse still is the knowledge that things would be resolved but nope nothing resolved. Excellent show with an truly talented staff that must have taken ages to get so why disservice the show by cancelling mid season (I think) should have run the full season & then judged what to do. A review I read above says the same thing more or less & it seems a shame that CBS did not give it a full 1 season run or that UPN did not get the rights to make more.
Werewolf (1995)
HOWWL why did I buy this stinker
OK I have to admit it starts of promisingly in the first 1 minute before Uri opens his mouth because then you take Uri into account & realize he is wearing a really bad wig. This is the only movie I have ever seen with a werewolf driving a car & the character of Paul (the good guy) you cannot help but hope he gets shot with a silver bullet. The one saving grace of this pile of pooh is the beauty of Adrianna Miles, yep she may have been pretty much employed to be eye candy & she sure did it but I felt that this movie may have been beneath her as well. The funny thing is this movie could have actually been in the top end of B movie class if only it had a director that knew what they do,the scenes are set up badly, the casting of Uri was awful as he looks like he cannot differentiate between acting & a good wig.The rest of the cast could have pulled this off if only they had been given better dialog & less "at a loss" Director. They also look like they kept changing the look of the Werewolf during filming. This is a train wreck but it is all at the hands of those in charge.
