Following the Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002)
Interesting
"Following the Rabbit Proof fence" really interested me. The girls all had such natural talent and to see it behind the set, it came from another point of view. I couldn't believe how alike Everlyn was to Molly, no wonder she fit perfectly. It's a bit disapointing that they didn't have much on the stolen generation, or the real girls' lives but it was all the same very well done. It was very moving and heartbreaking how after the scene they were still crying. It just shows how much the past is still painful but how strong these people are.
A Little Princess (1995)
papa!
i love this movie. at the end, i just stare... touched with so much hope and emotion. i love the setting of new york, although a lot of people think it should be the same as the book. it gives you a look into 1914.. a world shaken by an arising war. orphans, beggars, flower girls, magical indian gentlemen, boarding schools. beautiful stories of rama and seta told by a little girl so far away from her papa, who misses him dreadfully. the whole school is turned around at the arrival of a princess Sara. to be honest, i like the movie more than the book. i like this heroic, cheeky, tolerant, blue eyed Sara. it's heartbreaking when sara's life changes from an elegant bedroom, to an old attic. it's heartwarming when they reunite. the music is beautiful. kindle my heart kindles my heart! i think that this movie is much more suited to 9 and up. there are some things they wouldn't understand, or it might upset some. i think there should be some kind of warning for child abuse and war scenes. the way miss treats her is horrible. the script is marvellous. i like to memorise the bit where she says: "all girls are princesses, even if they're not pretty, or smart or young all of us! this should have won an oscar. everyone that wants believe they're a princess should see this.
Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002)
a powerful but sad movie...who didn't cry?
i would probably consider this one of the most capturing accounts of this tragic time in history. being austalian myself, i haven't really been into austalian movies but this is an exception. the cinemaography is beautiful- showing the remoteness and isolation of the desert. the music was haunting, really depicting the mournful kidnapping scene, to the reunion. the acting is amazing, all the girls are very talented. everlyn should have won that award. this movie makes me want change history! i felt so guilty by the end, even though it wasn't my fault. because the intolerance of white austalia in the 30s, some families will never know eachother.
