Enough has been said already about the violence done to this epic and to good taste. The writing was trite and predictable ("Do you love my son?" "With all my heart!")
I've seen two other portrayals of Helen. There was an Italian film of a few years back with Rosanna Podesta, and a brief appearance by Liz Taylor in "Dr. Faustus". Either face could launch a thousand ships. Last night's Helen couldn't launch a dingy.
