Daybreakers (2009)
Great OZ film
Daybreakers has been in the highlight since it was announced and frankly it did not deceive me at all.I thought what a great idea this 2019 plague context.Film like this are usually not so good due to poor acting but Ethan Hawke is such a Talented individual that a tsunami of great review across the World started popping out everywhere. This film was well received by the public and the professional press.Shot in Australia's Gold Coast it did help pushing other similar projects and smaller one like The Dark Lurking. In general Daybreakers deliver what the viewers want, Actions and Ground breaking special effects. The stunt works in this production where truly amazing and the cars units have managed to create a similar feel that was felt on the early Mad Max Road warrior and directed by George Miller who was at that time a independent film maker.
Among Dead Men (2008)
Great show-cast of Talents
After following the progress of Action Director James Richard i finally acquired a copy of Among Dead Men who is now widely distributed in the united states by Amazon.com and Walmart superstores.I have watched and watched this film over 4 times now and thought to myself.what a incredible display of talents. The directing is exquisite and the Camera work spot on.The actors performances are actually good and I have enjoyed the lesser characters equally to the leads. This is a great little independent production that has been well promoted and sold by phase4films over the united states and Canada. The ethnic diversity of the casts is making this film a real melting pot of cultures taking the viewers from Hawaii to the Gold Coast of Australia in a blink of a eyes. The music is also a important factor of this martial art stunner with is full steam feature of style ranging from Kick Boxing, wing chun Kung Fu and Chinese boxing.all scores will be settled in this game of death.
The Violent (2010)
Great direction and editing
I was once amazed by James Richard talent, this incredible writer,Director has now so many good films under is belt that i can say that we are sharply seeing the rise of another great action director coming from Australia.Mr Richard in this film has joined talent with martial Art superstar JWP.The camera truly love him and he's great physique is just another attribute to this amazing fighter.Outclassing all the current action stars worldwide JWP demonstrate a incredible ability to perform under the direction and choreography supervision of James Richard. This film is truly a kicker and i now understand why everyone is talking about it in California.Coming from a special Ops and Wise force training background Mr Richard did choreograph the fights and won a Award for it at the 2010 AOF where he was also Awarded Best new writer. The Camera work is also truly amazing!
Hell Ride (2008)
What a awful rip off. Shame on larry Bishop!
I saw this film a couple of time since it come out and has i was trying to understood what was the idea behind it i was wondering how the heck all this when so wrong.Guess what I just found out Today on Youtube by watching a very interesting page? This Hell Ride was actually a Big Open Rip off ..But wait before spilling the beads of what i think None of you noticed.I need to reveal a bit more of the plot of course.Did you notice that most of the scenes don't coincide with each other, looking like somebody did run out of inspiration while writing the screenplay turning this farce into a Porn type Z grade movie.I still cannot believe that Tarantino E.P this piece of Garbage.Anyway for going a little bit more further into to grim and dirt of Hell Ride we have to look at first the name of Larry Bishop Character Pistolero,Unusual name for a non-Latin film don't you think?where do you think he's got it from? Rodriguez El Mariachi ? Nope, so where?I will leave it up to you to found out for yourself just the way i did.Look at 2007 AOF Award recipient for Best foreign film and finally know the true behind Hell Ride rip off.very sad to see that kind of shameful practice coming from such a great Brand name that Tarantino have since Pulp Fiction. The original idea was coming from a Trilogy pilot 'El Pistolero Del Diablo' in 2007 was directed by Award winning writer James Richard.
Man of Blood (2008)
Great Fight choreography
Richard Norton is so great in this movie and the way the whole thing has been directed simply mind blowing. The special effects are the same used on Richard films El Pistolero Del diablo and Among Dead Men but are still very impressive. This film also show great skills in editing and structure coming from this independent team.Ben Forster did the best that he can to match the charismatic action star that was once Richard Norton.Man of blood would make a great martial art film when this come to realization bringing back the golden era of great fight films made in Hong Kong and Australia in the late 80.The secluded environment where the fight evolve are a great idea that i validate for that kind of genre. Overall this short film has a lot of potential and can do a lot of hurting into the UFC based films.
El pistolero del diablo (2007)
Kind of Between a 70' Western Spaghetti and 'Hell Ride' ..not Bad at All !!
I just saw this premise today on YouTube and cannot believe it was made almost 4 years ago.Pretty Good Fights with a lot of Grunt but what I liked the most was the Bikes entry with this ranching Latin music pounding the dirt! That have something really heavy, don't now why but it really got me on the ride too.I love that kind of hard core music on experimental film. The western part was good but needed to be longer to fully enjoy the gun play. The guy that play the Pistolero is quit of a character too,a big foo with eyes popping out the screen, specially in that scene when he rip that guy head off in a calm and collective phlegm.Overall this is nice little film featuring some sharp locations.I enjoyed it.
