Bill Pullman's performance is worth the watch.
21 October 2023
The Murdough murders is a compelling story on its on but the production of the movie is a little slow. However Pullman's performance makes the show. I was surprised at how good he was! If you've watched true crime stories you should check this out. It's not the best movie but it's not the worst. The Murdough story is pretty interesting on its own but just watching Pullman slowly descend into a train wreck is fun to watch. Honestly he should win an Emmy for this one. Honestly I don't have much more to say about this show but I do need a few more words to meet the required characters. Check it out. I hope to see more from Pullman.

Should have called this "Idiots on a Plane"
17 August 2023
I will say it was suspenseful. So that's a positive. And the action was really good but it was so frustrating at times! It's like the Idris Elba character was the only one who had a lick of sense. I almost stopped watching it at one point but I like to watch something mindless while I straighten up or get ready for bed. This is perfect because it's definitely not a highly cerebral script.

Don't get me wrong, there are a few head turnovers and some good twists but that barely makes up for the lack of common sense of anyone on the plane or anyone on the ground in headquarters. If you're willing to let go of a lot of common sense, then check it out for the action and suspense.

Fun movie and fun cameos
29 April 2023
If you're looking for a well crafted action adventure movie, then you might want to keep looking. If you're looking for a fun date night or family friendly movie, then this is it. Although it wasn't all that believable and the chemistry wasn't great it had some laughs and it was a nice way to spend a cloudy Saturday afternoon. Not sure what else to say about this without giving a way some of the plot but I did see that Chris Evans was a producer on the movie. That may be how he was able to get some fun cameos thrown into the mix. I also don't understand all the hate and really low scores. What's with all the angry people venting on all these social forums.

This is why they don't want this history taught.
25 February 2023
This is actual news coverage of what went on with voting rights for black people in the south. If this part of American history is taught it might make people think. People might start connecting the dots on how and why black people haven't done as well as others. I applaud shows like this and I'm thankful for the people who make sure these types of programs get made. The fact that certain politicians don't want this being taught is schools speaks volumes. It's interesting that these politicians don't deny that this information is true. They just don't want people to know about it. All Americans should be wondering - what are they trying to hide and why are they trying to hide it.

It's like the writers didn't even try.

Warning: Spoilers
So Dana and Kevin are trapped in this horrible situation and they act like they're in some kinda murder mystery weekend getaway! And on top of that, they think they're gonna make the lives of the slaves all better by acting indignant around all the racist white people. It's like Dana and Kevin have never seen a movie about slavery or read a book about that time period! It was so frustrating. If the writing and direction had been better, this could have been an amazing series. I actually liked the way it started, for the most part. It had potential but there was a total lack of understanding of what was actually happening around them. Being clueless for a day or two is understandable but it's like they were stuck on stupid. This show could have been interesting even if Dana and Kevin had adopted some type of strategy to survive.

And Kevin acting like a penniless beggar. Get a freaking job to make some money and be independent. But their grand plan was to hang around the plantation looking stupid.

I really like the actress who plays Dana, but I guess there's only so much she can do with the crappy dialogue and directing.

A lot better than 4.9!

I'm glad I didn't pay a lot of attention to the bad reviews. There are some things that are problematic about this movie but there are some fun and interesting concepts. If you like science fiction dealing with time travel, you may appreciate this imperfect movie.

Awful and hilarious
8 June 2021
This show is uncomfortable to watch and it feels like he's making fun of some of the people. Just when you think you can't watch it anymore, something hilarious happens and you end up laughing so hard you cry. I gave it an 8 instead of a 9 because some of the episodes are just weird or silly. But some episodes are really good.

Warning: Spoilers
Whenever I see a lot of 1 and 2 ratings, I think - political. Since this has to do with global warming, I suspect a lot of people came here just to give it a bad rating - only because they don't believe in global warming.

I believe a lot of people were expecting a lot of action. There was some (not a lot) and it was done very well. A lot of reviewers mentioned something like, what's the point? I believe the point is that there is so much hopelessness about bad situations. The show tries to highlight one future of the earth. There could be a thousand futures and this was just one writer's point of view. And it was well done.

Warning: Spoilers
So much wasted talent. So much wasted time. A lot of stuff was ridiculous, not funny. For instance, two thugs walk into a bank, go into a side office with an employee, and they shoot him in the back of the head. During office hours! And nobody notices anybody AND the camera footage in the bank is old and grainy - at a BANK! Plus they didn't have to kill the employee. Then we're supposed to be happy for the neglected house wife, even though she's 100% responsible for everyone's death! AND the film wasn't even funny.

Great new show
13 May 2021
I'm not sure why this is starting off with a low rating. Maybe it's because the show is centered around strong, yet flawed, females. I've seen the first two episodes and I'm looking forward to more. Jean Smart is great in everything and Kaitlin Olson (from Always Sunny in Philadelphia) is always fun to watch. I'm not familiar with the the actress who plays Ava, the young writer in need of a job, but she's very good as well. I'm sure as more people get a chance to watch this, the rating will go way up. It deserves at least an 8.

Made for Love (2021–2022)

I had high hope for this one.
3 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show is trying to do too much. It's hard to tell if it's a "technology domination" show, a "spousal control" show a "corporate greed" show or a "unrequited love" show. It also tries to be quirky by throwing in random weird stuff, like sex dolls and bull riding competitions. I've only seen the first 3 episodes but I don't have high hopes for the others because there's no solid point of view and I don't really care what happens to any of these people.

The only reason I gave this a 7 instead of a 6 is because the acting is pretty good and the concept is interesting.

I think the reason this isn't rated higher is because the two leads are women
25 March 2021
The rating for this series should be somewhere between 7.5 and 8. I thought they did a good job of mixing a crime drama in with the emotional difficulties of relational sci-fy. The two main leads were very convincing in their roles and the side stories involving finding the "one" had the right amount of drama. It's definitely worth a watch. I enjoyed it.

So frustrating to watch!
27 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It was so frustrating to watch someone make bad decisions for stupid reasons. Here's a spoiler... rather than just advertise on a friend's social media page, she makes fliers and emails her friends.

Most of the show is about her acting pathetically!!!!!! It's so frustrating. You're about to lose your freaking house!!! And you're too proud to advertise on some man's website. And your kids are just sitting around acting grumpy. Put them to work!!

They portray her as some sweet God fearing woman who can do it on her own! Rather than a woman starting a new business and using all available resources. It's kinda pathetic. Whoever wrote the script should work on plot and drama.

The worst thing about this movie was the marketing.
9 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was really excited to watch this film. I love sci-fi and I'm a big fan of both actors. I was looking for something fun and quirky but that's not what it is. About 15-20 minutes into the film I had to adjust my expectations. I had to shift my thinking from sci-fi to drama because that's what it really is. *SPOILER*

It's a drama about addiction. A lot of people probably didn't realize this because they've never had to deal with a loved one that has addiction issues. Unfortunately I have and I saw all the signs. I understand why the writer/director wanted to leave it up to interpretation but I think that just led to some confusion - especially for people who don't have any experience with an addiction. I also think there's a bit of mental illness in there as well and that fits because a lot of people with mental illness self medicate with illegal drugs.

All of the haziness occurs when people are coming down off their high. During their highs everything is blissful - or so it seems. That's the only thing that could explain why people would hurt their families - especially their children - so much.

I think it's a worthwhile movie with great acting. I think people will enjoy this more once they adjust their expectations.

Warning: Spoilers
This could have been so much better. This type of movie has been done and done much better in other films. I also found it interesting that Coogan's Character couldn't care less about his own son. Why not try and give him a job so he and the grandson could feel safe? Why not work on that relationship as well? There was trauma there that could've been explored. I'm a fan of Coogan and Rudd, but i was disappointed.

"White women's tears"
17 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This show was so frustrating. There is a massive catastrophic event going on, and some dumb woman takes off on her own for completely SELFISH reasons! But because she is an "essential" scientist, the military agrees to escort her on a foolish selfish errand. Many people die because of her - even a child! All because she wanted to find her sister. Like nobody else lost a loved one. So let's just focus on her.

Then the military just goes back to the base and act like nothing really happened. I would've left her to fend for herself. Or lock her up! at the base. That's what people in authority do to so many "other" people. She was the reason people died! But in this poorly written series, I'm not surprised the writers weren't able to create a more dramatic, realistic, and intelligent scenario.

Why does the queen talk like a Muppet?
16 August 2020
I would have given this show an 8 but the queen is beyond irritating. Over acting isn't good acting. Talking high, low, slow, fast, then elongating words and clipping them off is annoying. I understand the concept of a mad queen which in many cases means arrogance, selfishness, or just plain conceit that has been fueled by them being spoiled beyond repair. I understand the actress wanting to make the character unique but it's too much. (For great acting of "mad" royalty, check out Game of Thrones seasons 1-4).

I'm only on episode 5 but I think an interesting character arc would be for the queen to "speak" like more of a regular person now that she is experiencing some adversity. I think that would be an interesting transition especially going into season 2.

As for all the negative reviews, I don't get it. It's not perfect but it is entertaining and I'm looking forward to many more episodes.

Like most "Conspiracy Theories", what's the point?
8 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Like a lot of reviews here, the idea was interesting but it really didn't go anywhere. And the examples of mis-memory were kinda weak. For instance, a famous quote from Darth Vader was slightly different, and the Monopoly game guy may or may not have a monocle. Basically is this guy having a breakdown or is he in a simulation? He spends most of the movie trying to prove this theory with YouTube videos. Pointless.

Kinda stupid. The rating is accurate.

Warning: Spoilers
It could have been really good but there's a difference between being inept and just plain dumb. The people who were captured or killed deserved it. Bad script. On second thought, maybe there was no script - just an outline.

A show about a black woman not written by a black woman
6 June 2020
I didn't read the book and I'm not saying it's a bad show but I did notice a few things that seemed a little off after the first episode. I'm a black female who grew up in the 80s and a lot of Mia's actions didn't seem realistic. So I was curious about the writer. I wasn't surprised when I saw the main writer and most of the writers were not African American.

I think the story is more about mothers with a bit of class and racial differences mixed in. But for me, it wasn't realistic.

So she's NOT crazy?
16 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
There's a lot of discussion on this site about weather or not this is a sci-fi movie or a drama about mental illness. Near the very end of the movie I started to lean towards sci-fi (with an alien abduction causing emotional anxiety). There are a few clues in the movie and some very alert people caught them and shared in other posts. It might be worth a second look.

Really?!
18 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The visitors are just fine with what's going on. And they believe everything the villagers tell them. You hear a woman screaming in the distance and nobody does anything. People ask to leave and they mysteriously disappear. And people just sit and eat their meals, drink what's put in front of them. The guys are working on their doctorates in anthropology and they don't recognize this as a cult! Yikes.

The movie is odd and weird, and not in a good way!

The one reason this episode sucks
10 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm almost done with the first episode, and I'm hoping it gets better, but "spoiler" why did they throw the wounded queen on a chaise lounge and just leave her crumpled up there for hours?!!!! They didn't dress her wounds, change her clothing, or even wipe her face! Did they even bother to give her any water?! Everybody just stands around, for hours, looking at her and looking out the window! What was the writer thinking? The director? Then the queen, rather than defend her people to her death, she jumps out a window. OMG, this episode doesn't deserve a 10, 9, 8 or 7.

People say to not compare this to GOT. I agree with that completely. For one thing, the first few seasons of GOT where almost perfectly written and directed. TW's first episode had too many "really?!" moments. I don't know if I should lower my expectations or hope it gets better. SMH

Why all the low reviews?!
9 January 2020
I think a lot of people want to compare this to The Quiet Place. It's not as good as The Quiet Place but it's certainly not bad. The beginning is a little silly but the suspense was pretty steady and of course there were some smart choices and some bad choices. Overall I enjoyed it. Good Netflix and chill movie on a rainy afternoon or evening.
