Vacation (I) (2015)
8/10
Everyone thinks this is a family movie?...IT'S NOT
27 August 2015
It's getting annoying seeing reviews giving this film a 1/10 because people have misinterpreted 'Vacation' for a family film and been disgusted by it. It's crude humour and outrageously funny if you like movies like Due Date and The Hangover and deserves more than a 1/10 (Mums who haven't bothered to check the rating).

The film its-self is also good and I think it's rating has been brought down by disgusted parents who's children have seen a little more than is desired. The acting is good enough, the jokes are tops and the situations get more and more extreme.

If you want a family movie take your kids to something else but if you like a rude comedy with plenty of laughs, this one's for you.

A Great Film from A Great Man
28 December 2014
If this is Russell Crowe's first film I can't wait to see what is to come. The Water Diviner takes you an an impossible, heart warming journey of a father looking for his sons after the tragedy of Gallipoli. What this film does well is captures both sides of the battle, the Turkish and the ANZAC's. It is visually stunning, emotionally charged and does more than most movies to pry open your empathetic side.

The cast are amazing but I think my praise would have to go to Ryan Corr, Yilmaz Erdogen and Olga Kurylenko for three beautiful performances. All three of them aid Crowe's performance in a highly emotional way and create depth and love within the film.

I highly recommend giving this film a go if you appreciate a film with a good story and good talent and I hope it receives the praise and attention it deserves. It is definitely worth the watch.

Nightcrawler (2014)

Very Real and In Your Face
15 December 2014
Let's start with the actor. Jake Gyllenhaal embraced the character of Louis Bloom with such a depth that not only did he make a dis- likable character the point of interest for the film but he made him very real and creepishly believable. Louis' sadistic behavior, his leering face and gaunt figure all added to the gritty vibe "Nightcrawler" offers.

As a film it is perfect from start to finish. The manner in which the story unfolds, the way it portray's the night's walks of life and the way it depicts media as the vulture's in the wreckage is all tied in brilliantly to the minutes and hours we spend following and observing Bloom. It has been created in such a way that you feel guilty or even panicked as you watch and do nothing...

Nightcrawler is one of those films that'll leave you thinking and questioning your own morality and that's a good thing. We sometimes need that.

John Wick (2014)
8/10
Surprisingly Entertaining

Keanu Reeves is back!

John Wick, what an unexpected surprise. I saw this film expecting your average Action flick. Lots of shooting, lots of stunts, the works; which John Wick delivers on. What I didn't expect was the beautiful way in which this film was made. Every shot from the first to the last is beautifully color graded and designed. The performances were outstanding from Keanu Reeves playing the humbled hero to Alfie Allen being very Theonish (Game of Thrones).

Yes, the movie is a little bit cheesy with its "Rambo: First Blood" incentives, but it's a lot of fun. A treat on the eyes and has in- depth qualities both with story and cinematography that are rare in action movies these days.

If you like a good action movie with a little bit more, John Wick is for you.
