First Ladies (2020)
Solid series, very interesting.
Its ridiculous that one, 1 star review can ruin the whole rating. I have watched 4 of the episodes and they go into a lot of info for the short amount of time each episode has. Basically gives a background of childhood and education and shows how that plays into their values and work as a first lady. How their views and knowledge affect, support and influence their husbands work and the relationship the first couple have. Whether I was a fan of the administration or not every woman was a smart, talented individual. I enjoyed this series a lot.
Don Jon (2013)
Don Jon
I actually give this movie a 7.5. This was a good movie. I am one of JGL's fan girls and think he is the cutest dumpling ever so I see most movies with him in it. I hoped to love this movie but ended up just solidly liking it. The acting is excellent, the story is good and it was funny. The ending was a little bit of a surprise to me but I liked it.
Reading some reviews I can see some people are confused and didn't get it. The movie doesn't condone watching porn all the time, on the contrary it is a lesson about how porn and romantic comedies and the media in general give girls and guys certain ideas about relationships that are untrue. If you think the movie trumpets sleaze then you didn't understand the movie. It was original, charming and I was pleased with it. I certainly hope that JGL continues to write and direct and of course show that cute face of his in many more movies to come.
Good Bye Lenin! (2003)
Amazing, touching, exciting movie
I couldn't say enough good things about this movie. I want to recommend it to anyone with eyes and ears. It has been on my movie list for a few years and I finally watched it. I loved it, I loved it, I loved it. The story is original, the acting is excellent. It was funny, emotional, touching and interesting. The relationships between the characters are so complex and real. The plot may be a little far-fetched but it was compelling and I was there for the whole ride.
This movie is really about the bonds between family and friends, which I think make the best movies, set during the restless period during the end of the cold war.
I know I haven't told you about the actual plot but just read the summary and dive in. It is wunderbar.
Last Night (2010)
Last Night
I love this film, it is one of my favourite movies. I won't give a summary because you can read everyone else's. The acting was good. Lots of soft, quiet, subtle moments that you have to pay attention to pick up on. If you need over dramatic signals to signify emotion this is not for you. When I watch it I feel the intense desire the characters have for each other and how confused Michael (Sam Worthington) and Joanna (Keira Knightly) are about their feelings for each other and for the other characters. An excellent movie in my opinion. Don't expect it to make waves. Enjoy it for what it is. An honest look at relationships, exploring desire and fidelity.
