The Mandela Effect (2019)
Surprisingly captivating
For fans of the tv show Black Mirror and like minded viewers; this is definitely worth a watch. It's a high concept, low budget, indie sci-if movie that really has an interesting premise.
The idea of parallel requires and making a movie about the idea of the Mandela effect is truly interesting. And not only on paper, the movie manages to suck in its viewer with its stellar cast and step by step raising the suspension and driving the plot home.
The ending was a bit abrupt and could've used some more dork, rather than just throwing in too many loose ends. But all in all this is worth a watch if you're interested in exploring possibilities of the surreal, yet might real, expanding theory of simulations.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Does the world hate fun?
Honestly I think everyone who talks bad about this show just simply hates fun. It's on the nose. Meta. It's supposed to be like this. I think it inherits the spirit of the successful comic book run, and it doesn't have to be so much in line with the other titles in the MCU.
As a fan of 2000s pop culture juggernauts like Mean Girls I get the vibe. It's irreverent, and messy. And I love it. For me.
It's a fun show: get over yourselves. Also if there was a man playing the lead , y'all would've loved it. I recommend it for anyone who likes stupid jokes, pop cultural references. I must say the CGI is kinda crappy though.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Doesn't deserve all the hate
Strong story, decent acting and captivating visual effects. I don't really understand the hatred of this movie. I can look passed some of the blissfully ignorant mistakes based on the original storyline because this was entertaining. Not the best effort, but I thoroughly enjoyed this more than earlier X-men movies.
4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)
Rushed but quite enjoyable
I wasn't a big fan of the first nice installment. It felt like it didn't know what it wanted to deliver, a big array of displaced jokes, uninteresting narratives and not much of a payoff.
This second installment is better in the way it portrays its characters. We get a little depth and not too many unnecessary character 'side story lines'. The movie also tickled my funny bones in the right ways. Most of the times at least.
The biggest problem with this movie is that the ending feels rushed. We have this big buildup that erupts into a quick fix ending. The character of the Silver Surfer deserved more attention to its complex details.
Enjoyable although forgettable.
