Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004)
Ruh Roh, Scooby is Back!
Well I was excited about getting to see this film being a big fan of Scooby Doo. I liked the first one but it lacked alot of the Scooby elements, with this sequel, I felt like I was watching an actual Scooby Doo cartoon episode with them running around creepy mansions and a town with monsters on the loose. It was also wonderful getting to see some of their old villains come back and I really liked how they played that up. I agree with what was said in an early user's comment about it getting bad reviews because of the people who are reviewing it, they're basically looking for Oscar nominations not the fun side of things. I usually tend to enjoy the movies thatget bad reviews the most. I was proud of Sarah Michelle Gellar, she wasnt as annoying as she was in the first. One problem I would have to say I had with them film was there were too many sappy moments where they had to give each other pep talks and tell each other that they are worth something or they'll mope around feeling sorry for themselves, some if it is good to have but it seems they broke off from the action to include one of these scenes. As a whole, I really liked this movie and I was laughing more then I did in the first one.
Peter Pan (2003)
A Wonderful Adaption
I had heard reviews for this film and they were either borderline positive or borderline negative, but all in all, I walked into the theater with high hopes and came out with wonderful thoughts and had chills. This was a great adaption to the story and kept very close to the book. The actors were wonderful and there were excellent effects. There were no slow parts and I was kept on the edge of my seat the whole time. They mixed in lots of action and humor which made for a great family film. Definately a must see, I cannot wait for this to be released to DVD/Video so that I can own it. I give it an excellent 10.
The Dreamer of Oz (1990)
A Wonderful Film
I loved this movie. I cried so hard at it, very touching. Even though the truth was stretched highly, it still is a great movie. I really wish they would release this to Video/DVD. It upsets me that they will not. I still have my old VHS version from when i taped it when it was first released on TV. Hopefully we will see a real release sometime in the near future.
Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
Watch Out Laurie, He's BACK
This film saved the series and it was really cool to see Jamie Lee come back after 20 years. It had alot of great scenes but it could have been longer. Its like you really start to get into it, but by that time, its over. My main complaint is that they ignored 4-6. I thought it was lame of the film to shove them under the bed and act like they never existed. But overall, I really liked it, Michael and Laurie meeting up once again, very exciting.
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
It Was A Really Good Film, It Could Have Been Better
This was a really interesting Halloween film. I wasnt to thrilled with the whole Thorn theory but it still makes for a good film. I liked getting to see Tommy Doyle back but sadly Donald Pleasance died right after shooting. The film had a really REALLY bad director who didnt give a flip about the series, from what I heard treated Donald bad, and wouldnt let Danielle Harris come back as Jamie. Its like he was just trying to bring down the film, but I still liked it. There were alot of cuts and music changes and if you're lucky you can get the Producers Cut which features over 40 min. of never before scenes. With those scenes it turns into a whole new movie. Check it out if you have the chance.
The Wizard of Oz (1939)
A Masterpiece
It is so hard for me to even begin to put how I feel about this movie into words. Except that it's the most wonderful story ever told. I have literally seen this movie over 100 times and it never grows old. I watched it every single day from ages 3 to 5. I have a huge collection of Oz memoribila, not just from the movie but from the actual Oz stories as well.
For the time period it was made in, they did the best effects any movie could ever do with what they had back then. The film was difficult to make, but it trully paid off. This is the greatest film ever made, and has so many lessons that can be learned for all ages. And even though there's evil still today in this world, Oz is place where we can escape to once and awhile to forget about our troubles, but even in the end, no matter how hard things get, there's no place like home, where you have family that cares. I'd like to end my comments with words spoken by Mr. L. Frank Baum who wrote the orignal book over 100 years ago:
"When I was young, I longed to write a great novel that should win me fame. Now that I'm getting old, my first book is written to amuse children. For, aside from my inability to do anything great, I have learned to regard fame as a will-o-the-wisp which, when caught, is not worth the possession; but to please a child is a sweet and lovely thing that warms one's heart and brings its own rewards." - L. Frank Baum
Thank you Mr. Baum for giving us such a wonderful tale.
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
Aimed too High And Blew It
With the success of Halloween 4 they rushed things and came out with this mess a year later. Not all of the movie is that bad, the last 30 minutes are pretty interesting. There were many problems though that I thought were ridiculous. Here were my problems with the film: bad lip syncing, Tina and other annoying characters, the introduction of the Thorn, the hideous Myers mask, and my #1 problem with the film was the Myers house. (or should I say Myers Mansion) What were they thinking when they were selecting houses? Good grieve, ever heard of a sound stage and building your own, "Halloween: Resurrection" made a perfect replica of the house, they could have to back then if they hadnt been in such a rush to release this film.
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
Michael Makes A Good Return
Well after the fans spoke out that they wanted Michael back, he returned 10 years after the first murders, this time in search of his niece, Jamie Lloyd. This movie had some really good scenes but I had to take away a few points due to the cheesy rednecks that are running around town looking for Michael. The story did have a nice plot and had some interesting turn outs.
Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
A Good Scary Movie, But Not As A Halloween Film
When I first heard that Halloween 3 was Myerless, I said "NO WAY AM I GOING NEAR IT." But just to see what it was all about I decided to watch it and I made a wrong judgement on the film. It wasnt all that bad, not too scary, but still a good flick. I think it just gets its bad name cause it was entitled as a Halloween movie and that turns people off because if they are going to watch a Halloween film it better have Michael in it. But, really you can't say Michael is not it because he does make a very brief appearance (watch the movie to see what I mean.) I'm willing to forgive them since the original idea was that John Carpenter was to release a Halloween film a year with different storylines, but the people spoke out and demanded for the return of Michael Myers. Who knows, maybe if it wasnt for Halloween 3 we would have never seen Michael again.
Halloween II (1981)
A Great Sequel
This was a great sequel to the first Halloween film. It was done it a very unique way with the way they start right where the original left off. All surviving cast members returned which is always a good thing. This has to be one of the most important Halloween films because we are let in on some juicy Michael secrets.
Halloween (1978)
Greatest Horror Film to Date
It's amazing how with low budgets and independent filming, John Carpenter was able to create a wonderful film that will leave you terrified. Never has a scary movie succeeded in making me afraid of the dark, taking notice to little noises outside and always from now on checking my back seat of my car until I saw Halloween. Michael Myers is definately one creepy guy and I think his mask will haunt me forever. The music is another thing, its so simple but yet so terrifying. One thing that makes me like Halloween more is that is didnt try to be like another movie, sure we had The Exorcist, Psycho, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre but Michael Myers came onto screen with a whole new look on movie villians which led to many more trying their hardest to live up to him, like Jason. I have yet to see a scary movie live up to Halloween.
