Freaky Ali (2016)
This movie has more holes than a Golf Course!
And you don't need to be "Freaky Ali" to find the holes in this over 2-hr course. And this golf course offers you a very bumpy ride with hurdles appearing ever so often, which made it impossible for me to sit through this mindless gimmick posing as a feel-good-comedy. I'm not certain of the purpose behind roping in Amy Jackson. She comes in as the manager of the antagonist then becomes one to the protagonist, but the only thing she seems to have managed through this film, is her limited screen appearance, so that people forget she was even in this movie. Nawazuddin Siddiqui looks so odd making the shots, in his Polo and pants. Even though the veteran tries to make up for the poor screenplay with his acting skills, not even "Bhai" could save this "Freaky Ali".

A much needed Social Message!
Our Country is going through a societal change in thoughts and way of life, as it progresses into a more developing modern economy, embracing westernization. But this has led to a internal turmoil as certain sects embrace this change with open arms, and cannot wait for it to take over our country and there are others, who are reacting with rage towards this change, as they feel everything that they hold dear is coming apart. One particular gender, is facing this turmoil to a greater extent than the other, namely our female compatriots. There has been a lot of horrific harassment and abuses taking place against them recently and it has been also validated by political and religious figures, who embrace some archaic thoughts, which doesn't find any place in a modern society. The central theme revolves around the question of "What gives a person the right to abuse another person?" is asked and analyzed through the arguments presented by Amitabh Bachchan's character at court. Even though a just judgment is given by the court at the climax, the viewer is left to reflect, to form his own judgments based on the facts and evidence he is left with. This film asks the common viewer about the double standards or hypocrisy involved in holding such out of date opinions, bordering on ignorance.
The purpose of art is to reflect the state of society, and help us see our misconceptions and imbalances, which eventually should lead us question our assumptions and find ways to construct a progressive society, where there is ample freedom for all living beings. And thankfully this film does so.
A must watch for every man in the developing world!
Skyfall (2012)
Not what it used to be.............
I being a huge fan of the Bond series was not satisfied by the new addition, 'SKYFALL'. It was nothing special but lacked a lot from the usual bond movies. Bond movies are supposed to have a casual (NSA) feel to them, with a lot of action, cool gadgets, glamour and punch lines. This movie lacked seriously in the last three categories.
Javier Bardem was under used, his character vaguely reminded of "The Joker" but never reached that caliber. For a 2 1/2 hr film it certainly failed to built up characters and often went on to question about Bond's Past and his potential or the lack of it. By bringing in the personal touch it started to resemble the Bourne or the M.I. series.
Spoiler Alert: Things got a little too personal, instead of it being about saving the world the story was about two agents (one from the past and one current) fighting about M's affection and loyalty to her agents.
Anyway, being partial to bond movies i would still rate it worthy of 6.5 stars and a must one-time see, for all the lovers of this genre.
