The Simpsons Movie (2007)
meh... too little too late
As homer sits in a darkened theater watching an "Itchy And Scratchy" movie, he shouts out "Why would we pay for something we could see at home?" he perfectly sums up the simpsons movie.
About once every twenty minutes (or once an episode if you strung 4 episodes together) do we actually see anything that makes you think "wow couldn't see that on TV!" really. this is just a few episodes strung into one. nothing new. This movie should have come out 10 years ago before the simpsons did everything and exhausted all story lines. (heck they even rip themselves off with this).
all and all funny, but wait for the video... on for god's sake get this out of the top 250
Janestown (2001)
what the hell?
so i just caught this on cable access.
seriously, what the hell?
It was titled as a "documentery."
I'm gonna have to call BS on this one. I've seen ed wood movies better scripted than this. And i'm not just talking "Plan 9." I'm going all the way to orgy of the dead.
Basically, this is about a few indie punk chicks with no talent that can't make it in the record business. I'm pretty sure they've broken up by now or grown up and made babies.
I'm not sexist and i love punk but these girls can't sing and can't write anything but 3 chords. Punks not dead, a bunch of women studies majors just took it over.
Virus (1980)
Just bought the DVD
I picked up this DVD on a whim basically. I was at a used CD store looking for a nice old zombie movie when i saw "Hell Of The Living Dead" for $5.99. The price was right so i figured i couldn't loose.
*****SOME SMALL SPOILERS AHEAD*****
I understand the "Dawn of the Dead" comparison. But the end about 20 minutes into the film (other than the score).
The acting comes close to crap but it is hard to judge when the voice has been over dubbed. The main problems i had with the film are as follows:
1) Slow paced. Once they hit the village, we get about 10 minutes of stock footage very poorly cut in with the film. I didn't need to see that damn monkey jumping in slow motion 3 times.
2) What was driving these characters? ##BIG SPOILER## Let me get this straight. 4 swat team members were dispatched to rip up and burn 2 sheets of paper?! I get why the reporters are there but come on.
Other than the above i liked it a lot. Great score, nice gore, unnecessary nakedness. Lia probably has one of the most violent deaths i've seen in a while.
The movie is worth at least renting if you're a zombie fan. i'd say it's slightly better than Day of the Dead
