Malignant (2021)
They didn't even try
Don't get me wrong, there were a few entertaining moments but they put minimal effort into making this movie. The weakest points were the script supervisor and casting.
Kiss Me First (2018)
What?
The first half of the series was enjoyable and left me intrigued....My brain hurts from the second half. Every aspect of the show went completely off the rails midway. It had such potential.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Truly terrible
I really wanted to like this since new releases are rare these days. The whole thing is contrived and quite grating at times. The writer needs to find a different calling, the characters are extremely obnoxious (especially the children!) and the direction must have been done via Zoom. I don't think I've disliked a show more and I'm fairly certain others will agree.
Z (2019)
Terrible direction and acting
I watched 95% and it could have been a somewhat decent horror film with a different director. The acting is mediocre but a little direction would have done wonders.
Halloween (2018)
Not sure what that was trying to be
Being an avid Halloween fan, I eagerly awaited this release. I have always enjoyed the brilliance and simplicity of the original movie but this was neither, unfortunately. David Gordon Green seemed to change his direction several times throughout and there isn't much cohesion. I didn't know if I was watching a sequel to John Carpenter's masterpiece, a correction to the other sequels including Rob Zombie's interpretations, Laurie Stode's vengeance or a fluff piece for teenagers. It was scattered at best and I will continue to hope for a true sequel.
