Valhalla Rising (2009)
Native American's View
Saw this on Satellite TV just now. It seemed okay at first. Nice artsy look at vikings which always interested me. Very little words. A lot of environmental focus though. But when seeing how they handled the natives with an introduction of an arrow fire, i was like "WHAA?!?!" Obviously, the writers didn't do their research.
I won't say much or as to why, but adding Native Americans in a form of a mysterious threat is just ridiculous. These guys were either Inuit or Mi'Q Mac; and knowing at least half their beliefs (half of which are universal to almost all natives of north America), starting a fight with foreign peoples risks the survival of their community through war. The people of the North did not have that kind of luxury. Survival was always of importance. They knew that everyday they lived was a concern in itself because of the difficulties of finding food. And they were probably just as scared, clueless, and curious as the vikings were upon meeting.
And if these two peoples had met through combat prior to the movie, it would have most likely happened on the edges of Greenland with jerk offs (on both sides) fighting over food or paranoid beliefs. And if it had happened, all of the vikings would likely know about these natives because of their verbal / storytelling culture. Thus, they would have known where they were and who they were dealing with.
This (like most movies from Hollywood) is the usual result of primitive, uninsightful, western thinking. Do your research next time!
Clooney vs. Godzilla (2007)
A fun collection of snippets stitched together.
I expected a video like this to be a fun film shown at the Oscars, but instead it's on YouTube. This is a collection of snippets stitched together by an obvious fan of Clooney, whom made a somewhat compelling story out of it. I found this largely entertaining in which the footage usage was used creatively with some hilarious, unexpected moments.
The choices made to use these footages was rather at random and with that had great comical impact. However, the amateurism of excessive material is generally seen between each event. Ultimately, it's a great watch split into three 10-minute videos and which people should hit up on Youtube.
P.S.: What happened to part 2 of 4?
