Survivor: Do or Die (2021)
Diversity and Inclusion For All
We've been watching Survivor from the first episode, but season 41:11 rocked our boat. At Tribal Council, to see and feel the emotion from the black players and hearing their truth was an incredible blessing for all to witness. And for those reading this, please understand that this journey by the black people, is felt by most folks who are not Euro white. As a white family we have with out a doubt been given a leg up in North America, and afforded privileges for the simple fact they we are white. It's time to see each individual's beautiful soul.
Doctor Sleep (2019)
better than the shining movie
If you read the shining you know the movie missed the point. This movie at least is about the shining. Very well acted. King rarely disappoints but king movies almost always do. This one did not.
The Outsider (2020)
why rewrite Steven King
The show was fine but I do not understand why movie people feel compelled to change the story. How many millions of books has Mr. Price sold. If you are one of Kings constant readers the first thought when you see a new King based movie is coming is how are they going to screw this up. That being said the mini series was ok if you did not read the book. If you read the book the casting and story were off.
Climax (2018)
worst movie we ever or something was lost in the translation
Normally we don't leave negative reviews and we support Indy films and Canadian films but this was imho the worst movie we ever saw. there was a movie with witches and wicker burning that was the worst until we saw this one.
Pure (2017)
A Canadian breaking bad
Well done now Canada has there very own cross between breaking bad and banshee. without the yo Bi**h. Acting and writing was very good and being set in Nova Scotia rocks. And doing it on a binge watch only 5 hours instead of 4 days.
Mr. Mercedes (2017)
Not accurate to the book acting is great
On the one hand I was disappointed that it was so different than the book. King is a master storyteller and rewriting the book is foolish who ever made the changes you are not Steven King. So after much contempations I have decided that it can only help SK sell more books because you have people like me saying the book is better the book is better. On the other hand it was like watching an entirely different story so there is that. All that aside the acting was great and the story was ok for a tv series just the book is better
Forsaken (2015)
good movie but someone should have consulted a farmer
overall the movie was good the relationship between father and son was good. The story line though well worn was OK. G
Good actors but farmers they are not.
a couple of nit pics
Once you fell a tree with an axe -- cut the branches up with a saw whacking a small branch with a axe for no apparent reason seemed staged.
while you are digging out the stump there is no need to chop at it with the axe -- you already cut the tree down.
after you plow the field you harrow it or at least rake it to smooth the ground but you do not seed the furrows.
Overall the movie was really OK. they really should have consulted a farmer though.
Mystery Diners (2011)
An Eye Opener and Well Worth the Watch
Our only complaint... it's not on often enough.
We've seen all the negative reviews, and it can only be surmised that the folks writing the very poor reviews are precariously like those thieves being caught on the program. Why else take such a negative stance on a program that gives the viewer/consumer insight as to what unfortunately takes place when dining out at times. Swindlers protecting swindlers if you will. My family and friends love this program. Even though some scenes may seem staged, we see it as a necessary part of programming to inform the viewer of the progressing story line. Season 12 Episode 6, "From Russia Without Love" had an extremely satisfying ending. We'll say no more, as we don't want to spoil it for the viewer, but if you get a chance to watch this one, grab it. This program is an eye opener for those of us who still believe "honesty is the best policy." Watch and learn people.
Colony (2016)
Good but...
Great story line, good premise, good writing, acting not too shabby, and Josh Holloway is sooooo easy on the eyes. Those dimples... hubba - hubba. But, the action scenes are horribly staged, both in direction and editing. Somebody get a clue and fix the chase scenes, the fight scenes, and the action scenes in general. You're off to a good start with this series, but honestly hire an action stunt director! The foot chase scene involving Will and (I believe) Tom, the bomber in the first episode, is almost comical. Especially climbing down the rails and then sliding down the pole. The continuity bombed. Once they get this glitch straightened out, they'll see higher ratings.
Deadwood (2004)
Incredibly Bad Ending
I wanted to give this a 4 and my husband said 8, so we went with 7. :{ This film had all the right elements for an extraordinary series, but they forgot season four people. Acting was great. Loved the cast! Story line was great. Location was great. Writing mostly phenomenal. Historic interest was well represented and researched. Political upheaval of that time an education. Original character and location photos were highly appreciated. But... They leave you with so many unanswered questions in this series that it simply cries for another season. I think they cheaped out and left the climatic portion of this series on paper. Sorry directors and writers alike, but George Hearst does not get to ride off into the sunset! Not in my mind anyhow. Really poopy ending guys and gals. C...S...Ker's. :) Honestly we'd watch it all again... 'cept for the stupid ending.
Outlaw Country (2012)
Great movie, with a very disappointing ending.
This movie had tons of potential. We loved the southern back drop and the music was the best. A nice mix of western and blue grass. And who knew Mary Steenburgen could sing.
The locations selected for this film were authentic. You could feel the humidity and warmth of the southern comfort nights, jammin' while sitting around a camp fire.
However, if you enjoy seeing only the first half of a movie, this one should fit the build. Seriously, they need to finish it! It was a huge disappointment for my family! Until they complete this film, we honestly can't recommend this one. Sad as the cast is stellar and worked amazingly well together. This could have been an awesome mini-series. We're hoping they will continue with the story line, or film part 2!
Undercurrent (2012)
Way better then first review
This movie is not as bad as the other reviewer states. As much as we loath the topic of child trafficking little will be done until we all start talking openly about it and demand action. We need to shine a global illuminating light on this heinous crime being committed against the children of the world. This should be must see TV for all adults who want to fight the crime against abused children, of which there are many. The message is so important and we have seen far worse acting in big budget films. The story line is interesting in that the Protagonist who kills for a living finds as most of us would that there are lines that cannot be crossed and his new personal mission had us cheering him on. The only regret was the the pain of his justice was not severe enough.
