Shadow of a Doubt (1943)
It is too a good film!
I'm surprised so many commenters are picking on this film. I find it to be just as suspenseful as Hitchcock's other films. Teresa Wright is wonderful in this. I'm sorry that she died earlier this year, but now I will be checking out her other films. Hume Cronyn is also in this -- it was neat to see him as a young man. I also think Joseph Cotten (a favorite of mine from Gaslight, Portrait of Jennie, and I think Laura) is excellent. I'm used to seeing him as more of a hero, but here he plays a kind of villain (which isn't giving anything away as you know that from the beginning of the film.) The family is hilarious -- especially the bookish younger sister Anna. I love the way humor, drama, and a sense of horror are blended in this film. It's interesting to note that this was Hitchcock's personal favorite. I think those who find this film lacking should consider that -- what about this film as compared to his others, made this Hitchcock's favorite? It must have something they don't. I find the whole concept of the film intriguing. Not at all conventional, as some have commented.
Just a Walk in the Park (2002)
One of the best of Family Channel's Originals
I am a fan of George Eads on CSI, so I loved getting to see him as a romantic lead in this ABC Family movie. It's one of the better ones that Family Channel has made. If you love dogs and handsome men, you will like this movie. Unfortunately, it is not included on the Family Channel website any more. I'm not sure why, since their other films are there, but I'm hoping that eventually they will offer this on DVD. Otherwise, wait for it to rerun on ABC Family. It's worth watching. George plays an endearing character, and his co-star, Jane, is funny in her role. I also enjoyed seeing the dogs interact, and the way all the little story lines of minor characters were wrapped up as well as the main characters'.
