The Perfect Murder (2014–2018)

Who OK'd this debacle?
4 August 2021
I'm not a major ID fan but I do enjoy some occasional twisted escapism. At first I thought this had to be a parody ~ it's really that bad. Although it appears to be poor acting, you have to keep in mind all scenes are interpreted to then approved by the director. Then there's the whole premise, ie, "perfect murder." The episodes I've seen are anything but. This is laughably poor TV.

Devotees to Power & Fanaticism
1 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This could have been an excellent episode. The villain in this is obvious though well played. What's missing is awakening in the victims and truly poetic justice of the bad man, or in this case woman. Some of these people actually stay devoted to this sociopath even when presented with evidence of her sadism and cruelty. Hell even the music becomes downright tender as she justifies her actions. I don't know what the writer adirector was thinking.

Shades of "Taken"
28 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
What is it with Liam Neeson and kidnap dramas? Although I have to say this is more substance, less blatant action for its own sake, and his character is more relatable, flawed and real. And more noble since his motives are altruistic rather than on a personal case of vengeance and he is a haunted character seeking redemption. This makes it a cut above the Taken series and by far more interesting. There is a running spiritual element to this, mentioned in the 12 Steps and in the names of the victims which are all allusions of God, man and Christ. This helps take it beyond what would otherwise be an excuse to brutalize women. It is noticeably lacking a strong female presence, which I understand was cut (mistakenly IMHO) from the final by eliminating a major character. Dan Stevens' complicated character of a mourning drug-dealer and Brian "Astro" Bradley as the precocious TJ serve to add depth and dimension to this film.

Strange Evidence (2017– )

Conspiracy theories ahoy!
27 November 2019
This could actually be a good show - if they would lay off speculation of the ridiculous. This is Science Channel, not Travel (which specializes in hauntings). They have some capable and frequently prestigious experts. But instead of getting right to valid, sensible explanations we have to go down the rabbit hole into absurdity. I guess they have to please the tinfoil hat club as well.

Car in river "footage" dramatized
27 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The video of the woman in a car in the river is obviously re-enacted. The water is shallow and barely moving. One man is trying to tread water when it's obvious seeing the other men standing that the water is only about three feet deep at most. They should just say the scene isn't actual footage

Amazing episode!

This was one of the only studies, data in recent times to leave me feeling hopeful. As surprising as it sounds, especially after watching news, there has been a drastic decline in violence and violent acts among us, the human animal. Although one nuclear war would blow that data out of the water

Boring and Pretentious
26 September 2012
Very dull

I've tried to watch this show at least a dozen times & cannot keep my mind on it. It's like a Battlestar Galactica soap opera. But that's an insult to Battlestar Galaciica, which was actually pretty good. One word sums this up - BORING. This is one of the most tedious shows I've ever tried to watch, with a rambling and very confusing plot and characters that are supposed to be complicated but are better suited to those out of a daytime soap.

This show is nothing like SG-1, it doesn't even come close to being in the same league. It's an insult to the franchise.

Medicine Man (1992)
10/10
Everything - suspense, romance, humor, a film for adults and kids with adults, which emphasizes very real current issues.
13 April 2006
One of the best films I have ever seen. The chemistry between Sean Connery and Lorraine Bracco was unbelievable, especially considering their differing temperaments, moral attitudes and the fact that this wasn't a 007 flick - the sexuality was compellingly subtle and much more subdued sophisticated, even considering the primitive setting. This is family friendly, in fact I would strongly recommend this to very effectively get some of today's most important ethical questions and serious potential worldwide implications and consequences across to the kids, but along with adult supervision and interaction. I found this suspenseful, romantic, informative, funny, sad and very disturbing. With all that, it still presented the very real and urgent current issues that left me strongly drawn to pack my bags and act on them myself. 10 out of 10.

A thought from a "Blair" resident
15 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Having grown up on that mountain less than a mile from Burkittsville, MD, The only impact this movie - and I use the term loosely - had on me was how I really should go invest in a video camera. Flick very poorly and cheaply done without benefit of any actual research on the history and folklore of the area, Strategy, excellent. A lot of bucks made for spending just enough in productions to peak curiosity. Kudos, wish I'da thought of it. And I may yet do a similar one, made just as cheaply, but based on the stories and lore about restless spirits left over from the atrocities that really happened, and happened there. Not in Seneca Creek or Patapsco State Parks, safely just outside of Baltimore where this was filmed. Blair witch, bull. That was just the rantings of one scared individual in an attempt to avoid being executed for assisting in the murder of kids 65 years ago, and the really sick one behind it was one of the kids. If you're really interested in actual events or the history beyond the twisted fairy tales, look it up for yourself. But if you're not from around there, the spirits don't know you and you shouldn't be there, hanging out at night, treading on grounds that have become sacred to them, that contain their remains. Grounds that you have no respect for. Stay in town where you belong. The truth runs much farther back and is not just a lot stranger than fiction - it's much more terrifying.
