Bigfoot (1970)
Good Movie
A very enjoyable film for me, as I love Bigfoot B-movies.
John Carradine is a great actor and the Bigfoot creatures look more human-like than animal like. The music is also great, especially during the credits in the beginning of the film. The style really fits in well with the other Bigfoot horror movies from the 70's like "The Legend Of Boggy Creek". Another thing I enjoyed about this movie is that the filmmakers actually shot some of the scenes in isolated California mountains were real sightings take place. Unlike more of the 70's Bigfoot movies this one was more of a fantasy or fiction than a docudrama like "Sasquatch: The Legend Of Bigfoot", considering that a group of Bigfoot capture men and women and tie them to trees. If you like Bigfoot movies, this is a must-see!
Sangue negli abissi (1989)
Not all stock footage
Unlike some of the other Italian rip-off shark movies I've seen, this one is not all stock footage. It does steel footage from The Last Shark, but it also has its own mechanical shark and its own live shark footage. The movie's story has its sad moments, and that's part of a good film to me. The music is pretty bad, though. There are a couple good sounding themes in there but other than that, it's bad movie music. This isn't really a Jaws rip-off, more of a knock-off of The Last Shark since it has stock footage from it. In this movie, there is a wise old Indian who is very well acted and plays a very good role in the story. Other than the music, it's a good movie.
The Legend of Boggy Creek (1972)
My First Bigfoot Movie....
This is the very first Bigfoot/Sasquatch horror movie that I ever saw, and it was great! The film itself is what got me started on Bigfoot movies. After seeing this one, I had to watch more. The opening scene of the film in which the little boy was running across the field to get away from the creature had a big impression on me alone. The early 70's music made it almost epic, it was just one of the best movie scenes in a movie I'd ever watched. Most of the time the music in the film was good, which in my opinion, helped the film quite a bit. It was smart of Charles B. Pierce not to show the creature's face a lot, so when you see it for a couple of seconds in the end it's startling. What else is cool about the movie is even though it shows dead animals and has some violence, it's rated G. Also, it shows the creature's huge three-toed footprint later on in the movie. This is a great movie and is worth watching!
Boggy Creek II: And the Legend Continues (1983)
The Best Boggy Creek Movie
I had generally low expectations for this movie after seeing it on MST3k, but surprisingly I enjoyed it very much. Charles B. Pierce is a good actor as well as director, producer, and writer. The plot is interesting and the music is fantastic! The best Boggy Creek movie for sure-it beats the original smash-hit The Legend Of Boggy Creek and anything is better than the dull Return To Boggy Creek. The genre is a bit different than the original-this time Pierce makes a fictional movie with made up characters; although they do base some of the facts about the Boggy Creek Creature on actual descriptions of the creature. The acting of the others in the cast is also very good-they make it seem as if they are actually in Boggy Creek having close encounters with the Boggy Creek Monster.
L'ultimo squalo (1981)
The Last Shark
I got a laser disc of this movie with very high quality and I instantly loved it. James Franciscus and Vic Morrow do great, and Franciscus does excellent in the end with his emotion. This movie is still a jaws rip-off but is still pretty original, and steals no footage from other movies. The only thing I didn't like about this movie were the terrible special effects. In some scenes, the shark looks horribly fake-but in others, it looks realistic. When people get eaten, some times they get pulled under the water. Although there will be occasional parts with disembodied limbs that are very, very fake looking. Other than that, the movie is great.
