The best thing you can ask for in a movie is to be left wanting more
28 January 2016
This is one of the few films I have seen where I was left wanting more. There were non stop laughs, funny sight gags and wonderful actors. It was wonderful to see Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny back together as well. Tom Bennett is truly a joy to watch and steals all of the scenes he is in. The costumes, sets, and acting are all top rate. The script, pacing and direction all make the movie flow at a fast pace. I was never bored and at the end of the film, I was left wanting more. This is one of the greatest compliments I can give to a film. Time does fly when you watch this film and feel free to laugh out loud when you watch it. Everyone else will be.

The Cosmopolitans: The Cosmopolitans (2014)

Outstanding! You aren't a Parisian until you lived there for a couple months
1 September 2014
Whit Stillman's THE COSMOPOLITANS is jam packed with clever dialogue, great acting, and some great awkward moments. To me it rang very true, and made me laugh a lot. The lines about the apartment having a view when there was just a sliver of one, not having a decadent affair by going hiking, and the comment about the Starbucks being next to a great building were just a few of the gems in this outstanding Pilot. There are too many great lines of dialogue and to name them all would spoil the fun.

If you have seen Stillman's DAMSELS IN DISTRESS you will get the clever reference (I do not want to give it away). I want to watch these characters develop and see where the series goes. Hopefully this series gets picked up as it is a refreshing breath of fresh air. Clever without being crude (very rare today), and shot and directed beautifully. The acting is also really great and I particularly loved Sandro character as I have met Europeans just like him. It was also great to see Chloe Sevigny in another Whit Stillman project. If you do not pay attention you will miss the slew of funny lines.

Gem of a film
7 January 2012
I saw this film when I was too young to appreciate it. Then, years later I gave it a second chance and I'm glad I did. It gets me right here man...(reference to the film).

I think if you go into it thinking it will be like WEDDING CRASHERS or something like that you will be disappointed. It has very subtle and dry humor.

Give it a chance as you may just love it. Pay attention, because the jokes are not in your face. This is a film that rewards you every time you see it.

Ain't no trip to Cleveland...but a timeless and awesome film.

Witty, quirky, and funny...and that's just the characters
1 December 2011
Few films recently have been able to capture my imagination like this one. With the glut of comic book films and remakes, very few people are making original films. I was not expecting much going into this film (I saw it at a festival). In fact I had not planned on seeing it, but it seemed "different" enough to warrant a watch. Well, I went in not knowing what to expect and came out with a big grin. I was happy I gave it a shot and was surprised by the other comment on here.

If you want to see something original, that has some break out actors, and is funny, then check out "Damsels in Distress." Days after I left the screening, I kept thinking back on the funny lines and comically earnest characters. Go in with an open mind and come out with a grin.

IMDb does not allow 8.5 stars, but that's my verdict. This goes into the category of films I'll be watching again once it hits the theaters.
